How much for a finished basement?
DH and I are looking at a few houses and one of them has an unfinished basement. So we are trying to figure out how much it would cost to finish a 20x30 basement, roughly?

Ohh - I'd be interested to know this too. We don't have plans to do it any time soon, but it is on the "one day..." list

There are too many variables to really answer easily. Are you doing the work yourself or hiring someone to do it all? With or without permits? Do you need to do any waterproofing before finishing or does the basement stay dry. What type of walls do you want - sheetrock, prefab panels, flooring - tile, carpet, laminate, etc. Ceiling? Drop ceiling with florescent lights, sheetrock with high hats, etc. How many walls are you adding, if any. Do the stairs need to be upgraded too? You're best off either bringing someone in to give you an estimate or do some legwork on the cost of componants to get an idea.
