Preapproval Loan
DH and I applied for a pre-approval loan with our current bank. It has been in underwriting forever!
How long should the pre-approval process take?
We provided them with all of our information and so far have only received our credit scores, but no GFE. Isn't a GFE required within 3 days of applying for a loan?

We got a GFE within a week or a little more of submitting all documents, after that we had to wait also, it took at least 2 and a half weeks for the underwriter to complete.

Not sure but it seems you are looking for a pre-approval to have ready in case you make an offer? If that is the case you can call around to different banks and get one immediately. I know when I called our bank, Teachers they told me its 3 weeks for a pre-approval!

Are you sure you are not talking about pre-qualification? We already got that. That took like five minutes over the phone.
