Your first RE appointment.

Okay, I have my first RE appointment already scheduled for Monday. Did DH go with you the first time?

I am having mixed emotions about my visit. I am not sure how to feel. Chat Icon

Re: Your first RE appointment.

yes, DH came with me.
i honestly feel that its important for both to be at that 1st appt. they go through your whole history and a gameplan, etc.

after that, my DH doesnt come to much, just the important tests or what not.

i actually loved my 1st appt.. i felt refreshed and to know what was in store for us.. getting to the bottom of everything.. you will be fine!! Chat Icon

Yes DH came with me and I am glad he did. It is nice to leave feeling hopeful together and ready for the journey together as a team.

Re: Your first RE appointment.

No, my DH could not attend. He works out on LI and my RE is in NYC and for timing of appointments he would have to take a full day off work. I felt it was more important for him to use his time for the IUIs which he did. The first time he met my RE was at the first IUI.

I felt really good after my 1st RE appointment. It gave me hope and it was nice to come out having a game plan which made me feel like we were heading in the right direction.

Re: Your first RE appointment.

DH did not come with me to my first RE's appointment. I'm not entirely sure why he didnt. I was fine by myself. But, I think that if DH is around, it could be helpful for him to go.

Re: Your first RE appointment.

DH came with me. I usually don't drag him to that kind of stuff but I thought it was important for him to come bc I wanted him to hear what the dr had to say. We BOTH left there very hopeful and optimistic. He actually asked a question too, which I was shocked about. I know that not all partners can attend the 1st appt, but if the schedule permits...it's a good idea!

Re: Your first RE appointment.

Unforunately DH was away on business and couldn't come. It was a lot to take in by myself, but afterwards my wonderful RE e-mailed me a whole summary of everything we discussed. I too left our consult feeling great. After 2 early mc's I was pretty down, but with a great RE and a game plan I felt soooo much better. Good luck!

Re: Your first RE appointment.

DH came with me to my first visit. They asked him some family history questions and I wanted him to listen to what the dr said (because I was so overwhlemed with everything I was sure I was gonna miss something) and ask any questions he wanted. I feel the RE process is about both DH and I so I thought it was important for him to be with me. I was also "uncomfotable" about meeting with an RE, so I needed his support.

Re: Your first RE appointment.

My first Re appt was with Dr. K at LIIVF and yes my DH came with me. I was glad he did because it was nice to have a second pair of ears listening.

I have since switched to Dr. Braverman and my DH did not come with me this time. I felt it was more important that he watch my 3 year old so I could pay attention to what Dr. B said. He came to the third appt as he had to give a blood sample and he wanted to meet Dr. B.

Re: Your first RE appointment.

DH came with me, but it was a requirement that he be there for the first consultation as we went through both our medical histories with the RE, and they took a ton of blood from him as well.

Re: Your first RE appointment.

Thanks for all your responses Chat Icon

I feel like since the problem is on my end I didn't even think to bring DH. I suppose I will ask him if he can make the appointment with me (it's in the afternoon). If not, I won't bother changing it.

Thanks again!

Re: Your first RE appointment.

I'm probably not going to bring my DH to the first appt. All of this gives him serious anxiety. He would rather me just show him what to do when..lol. Even though we are dealing with slight MF between the urologist appts and work...I'm only going to have him go to the appts where I need to get a procedure done like the HSG or if I have to get an IUI.
