Re: Dr Braverman and supplements
I am taking my normal pre-natals, an extra folic acid, 100 mg of pycnogenol, 500 mg of resveratrol, 1000 mg of fish oil.
(but he told me the last time that I should be taking at least 4000 mg of the fish oil )

Seems he is recommending them to all of us this month. Or at least I know he told me and Deana to take them. Its making me a little skeptical now. I have not bought them yet. I thought they were pretty pricey, but maybe next cycle if another cycle is necessary which I really hope its not.

Re: Dr Braverman and supplements
I'm so glad someone mentioned this! I was surprised and off put (sp) when he started his spiel about the supplements. I was skeptical, too. I thought to myself, "oh great, he's just trying to make money off of us." But in a later conversation, he mentioned in passing that he isn't making money on them. I priced everything out and compared them to what I was already taking (something similar to maxi greens) and if I bought everything he suggested and if DH and I took the dosages he recommended, it would cost us $300/month. Ridiculous. I was already taking green superfood from amazinggrass.com and compared the ingredients with the maxi-greens and they were similar enough, that I stuck with the green superfood. I was also already taking fish oil, so I stuck with that. The only thing I did buy was the maxi-flavone for DH and me.
When I looked at the ingredients in what he recommended, I noticed a few things that the acupuncturist had me on a few months ago and all in all, the stuff is beneficial.

Re: Dr Braverman and supplements
He hasn't suggested anything to me, besides more Metformin Then again, I haven't had my 21 vial blood work yet... Just for the record I am already taking: Prenatal Vitamin Extra Folic Acid (I'm overweight) DHA (It's not in my prenatals)

Re: Dr Braverman and supplements
He told me I didn't need any supplements. The only thing I'm taking is Metanx (extra folic acid/b12/b6 combo), prenatal with DHA and baby aspirin, which I have to take anyway for my thrombophilia.
I asked him if I needed those other supplements and he said no.

Re: Dr Braverman and supplements
He has me on Maxi Green, DHEA and both DH and I on Maxi Flavon. I ordered from the recommended website and yes, he said he doesn't make money off of the stuff, just consulted. I was running low on DHEA anyway, so what the heck.
Got my order 2 days ago, and on the cap of the bottles was a label with his name. Some things just make you go hmmmmm.
Oh well, if he gets us all pregnant, I guess none of these thoughts matter.

I am taking them (although not religiously) and my pee is florescent.
Very similar to what I had taken when I was doing acupuncture.....

This is exactly what I was saying to DH last week! All these blood tests that show slight increased levels of things that we would never have known about anyway. The supplements probably won't really make or break our cycles. It's not like any of the treatments or supplements are all radical or dangerous. BUT if he's getting women pregnant, all that stuff doesn't matter one single bit. In 10 months, when we're holding our babies, we're not exactly going to say, "Hmm, I can't tell if that maxiflavone really did anything ot not." It won't freakin matter!! haha You can't get more tangible results than that!

Re: Dr Braverman and supplements
I wasn't on any supplements, just Pycnogenol, as was DH...but let me just say, I would do anything and everything he says. I'd been trying for 4 years to get pregnant and he get me pregnant first shot with IVF out of the gate!
Good luck to you all!

ITA! I mean, I wasn't saying he's a bad doorctor or anything for saying to take the supplements; DH and I just thought it was a bit steep to see 3 tablets 3 times a day, 2 tablets twice a day and 2 tablets once a day equaling 15 pills a day! and theyre horse pills so its so hard fo rme to take them without throwing up and they were too!!! just wanted to see if i was the only one taking them. and he did ask me when he called me if the seal was there with his name on them.

I was never on any supps beyond the metanx and the prenatal- I really think it depends on each individual case, so I wouldn't be skeptical.

Re: Dr Braverman and supplements
Its definitely based on each individual... he only recommended the maxi multi for me... told me the others wouldnt help me at all. And he didnt recommend any at all for DH since he has no issues. Just told him to take a One A Day Centrum.

They are very new, he and Dr Myatt just finished developing them and they are now available for purchase. I think its just an added way of helping his patients, maybe its not 100% necessary, but i'm sure it can't hurt.

Re: Dr Braverman and supplements
yea i bought the ones from the website too Dr. Myatt or something.. which his name on it.
Multi vitamin and Multi Greens.. total of 6 pills a day!
but in my case its to help my FSH level.. because its on the low side. he said that it helps alot with the egg quality.
so i do think its worth it, but the money was ridiculous! i paid 93 for both

Re: Dr Braverman and supplements
Well there is actually a lot of research out there on various supplements. You all may have heard of a woman in England who could not get PG for 14 years. Added DHEA to her cycle and got PG. iI may not have the details exactly right but
I took a variety of supplements with my IVF(#1 was successful with an FSH of nearly 15. I had healthy twin boys in November 08. I also did immune treatments(not with Dr B but someone who does a similar treatment) I don't necessarily think you need to buy "his" supplements but I wouldn't question the validity of using supplements. SIRM has caused a lot of waves in the medical community because their methods are considered unorthodox, but I think he has proven himself with the type of service I hear about form you all. TRUST ME-there is no other RE that would be calling/e-mailing ALL of his patients regularly.
If anyone is a dork like me and would like to read journal articles on any of these Google Scholar is a nice resource
Heres a quick search I did on DHEA and IVF:

Re: Dr Braverman and supplements
I've got to comment that I was a supplement junkie on my last IVF cycle (#4). OK, it wasn't successful in the end but it was a world different from all my other cycles. I was taking HDEA (on it for 3mths prior to cycling), Pycnogenol, fish oil, pre-natals, green vibrance, CO-Q10...probably more but I cannot remember. I just know I took a load of pills 3x a day. I went from having 1-2 mature eggs to a total of 10 mature. My RE also coasted me an extra day. But, every time I want in for an u/s the RE would comment (and diff one each time) that I had "lots" of follicles. I never heard that before. So, I am all for supplements. Only wish I discovered it when I did my first cycle. Who knows if 2yrs earlier it would have make a difference?
But, if you have bad eggs I don't think anything is going to make them better. But, if there is one or two good in there, I feel this is a good way to find them.
Good luck everyone.
