Ovulation Question
How long do you Ovulate for and long is the egg good after you ovulate.
Here is my problem....we were doing femera with timed BD again this cycle, but when I got to Dr B on Friday it seemed I had already ovulated bc of some fluid in the Ovaries? (not sure) he confirmed with blood work that I surged. DH and I only BD'd Friday morning and dr b said to bd again Friday night. Honestly, I am not even considering myself in it this month. Although Dr B said differently I just don't feel I have any chance of being PG so I am patiently waiting my next cycle, but I was just wondering about the above.
TIA!

Re: Ovulation Question
I also wanted to add a statement and a question. Forgot to mention I only had a follie that was 23 (which Dr B said was too big to trigger-ever hear that before???) I find that odd, but ok. And 2 that were only 14

Re: Ovulation Question
From what I have read, an egg can last up to 24 hours, sometimes a few hours more.
The 23mm follicle was probably too large to trigger. My Dr. triggers at 19 to 20mm.
When you say that there was fluid in the ovary, did your Dr. show you the follicle at all or was it already broken down? I haven't been in that situation, but when I go in for IUI after a trigger my Dr. shows me the follicle and where the surround is getting a fragmented shadow which shows that it's getting ready to ovulate.

No he didn't show me the follicle, but showed me the fluid floating around in there which he said was a sign of ovulation. Would he have been able to tell the size of the follicle if it was already broken down?
Ok so there is a pretty small window to trigger 20 is good/23 is too big.
Thanks so much for your reply.

I've also asked this question and my Dr told me the same thing.
I'm curious though about the 23mm being too large to trigger. I never knew that ....I definately though that 23 was a near perfect size. I need to ask my RE next time I see him.

Are you doing unmedicated IUIs? I think it depends on the meds you are taking. It is definitely less than 20mm for a trigger on injectables. It takes me 2 days to ovulate after the trigger and the follicle usually grows 1mm a day, so 22mm approx by the time I ovulate.

Oh I see. I did five medicated (clomid) cycles. I just switched to Dr. Braverman and will soon have my first cycle with him. He wants to start me on Letrizole (sp?)
