Those who did best friends training...
how long did it take your dog to adjust to the collar? We started on sunday and she is still acting very sheepish...breaking my heart and I am rethinking this whole thing. I am 7 months pregnant so really want to get her in good shape before the baby comes...this is just much harder than i thought. We did petco tranining a few months ago and that got us nowhere so i know she needs more...
any support and info on how your little one did would be a huge help..
thanks

Re: Those who did best friends training...
My dog would scratch at the collar for like the first two weeks. He just had to get used to it. He got over it. We also used them b/c I was pregnant and needed to get Maximus trained. Petsmart did nothing for us! Maximus is now so well trained it is unbelievable. And his personality didn't change! he just listens now! Walks are a pleasure and walks next to stroller! I recommend Best Friends to everyone! We had great success. Are you doing the group classes?

Maverick got over it in a week. He scratched at it and wasnt happy but he is def used to it. He has had it since he was 4 months old and he is now 1 year and 2 months.
I just want to say he is so well behaved! We hardly use the collar anymore. It is on him but not in use as much.
It was so worth it. Hang in there!

We only put the collar on when we were working with him. I was pg too when we trained Scout - 75 lbs of lovin' lab!!
Now when I put it on he gets so excited -- it means we are going to the park or we will be "working" on his commands in the yard. He loves his collar!

Re: Those who did best friends training...
i definitely don't recommend taking the collar off when you're not working with the dog. then the collar could be a "punishment" in their eyes and really, you're supposed to be correcting their behavior all day. even if you say "come" you're supposed to hit the button. my Jameson was ridiculously groggy the first day she came back, a little weird for the next day or 2 but then she was back to "life". definitely don't feel bad for your dog. the correction doesn't hurt them, it's more annoying if anything and that makes them listen to you.

Well Scout was trained 2 years ago and never needs the collar. We only used it when "working" with him and the rest of the time he would still obey.
And does to this day. As I said, he loves his collar and get totally psyched when he sees me pick it up -- it means off leash park time woohoooo!!
