That's Digitalis, aka Foxglove.
Be very careful! It's poisonous, even if you handle the leaves for too long. It's where they get the cardiac medication digitalis from.
They only bloom the 2nd year so I think they are expensive. My mother bought some last year and didn't have much luck. I've always loved them but with our dog, I can't buy them.

Thank you for replying. WOW from the looks of it I would never have thought it was poisonous!
Any recommendations for a similar looking plant which is pet & kid friendly? I especially likes the dots of color within the flower. I kinda reminded me of an orchid .

How about delphiniums? They are beautiful! They do grow pretty tall though.

OMG...I just bought this. It's poisonous? To humans?? What would my kids have to do to that plant in order to get sick? They don't go near it. Is it still ok?
To the OP...sorry to hijack!!

I'm sorry, I put everything I know about them in the post, so I guess for anything else, try google. I actually learned about Digitalis through my Paramedic class years ago and was really surprised to find that they were one in the same. I guess it shouldn't surprise me, there are a lot of things that are derived from well known flowers like Saffron from Crocus or Echinacea from Purple Coneflower.

!!!! Thank you so very much. The flower reminds me of anemone, which I love .
Joenick-Valerie no worries . I would have done the same thing.
