Dr. Braverman girls....Bloodwork
So I had my CD3 bloodwork done but I still have to go for the other bloodwork...you know what I'm talking about the one with the laundry list of tests
Just wondering for the girls who have gone for this bloodwork how long did it take and how many vial's did they take?

I have to go back on CD 18. I think I have already had the bw you are talking about done, when I did my first IVF. It probably took 10 minutes to draw all the bloods but that was at SIRM NYC.

it was overwhelming at first, but i was fine!! if you are okay with having blood drawn it will be a piece of cake! it went quick too which was suprising!!
just bring snacks and water with you!!

I'm horrible with having blood drawn and when they told me it would be about 24 vials I almost passed out. I'll just have to bring DH with me and hope I don't pass out

Re: Dr. Braverman girls....Bloodwork
the full work up to test for the clotting and all that stuff was about 28 vials of blood- it took me about 15 minutes b/c my veins are good and they got all 28 vials out of one arm.. they did say that they usually have to switch arms half way through though.

Re: Dr. Braverman girls....Bloodwork
I had about 20 vials taken and it took around 10 minutes. Don't stress about it too much, just don't watch them switching vials or inserting the needle. And drink water beforehand....

Re: Dr. Braverman girls....Bloodwork
I had the big one done at Quest. It was 30something tubes and after about 20 it hurt like a bi tch and I'm no whimp when it comes ti getting blood taken, but the girl that did it was terrible. It took a while bc Quest is computerized now.

Re: Dr. Braverman girls....Bloodwork
They took about 20 vials from me, it wasn't bad at all. But I have easy veins to get to.

Re: Dr. Braverman girls....Bloodwork
They told me 24 too! When I got there and I saw the print outs of the labels, I said to the woman, "That looks more like 48" Her response... "you're close, it's 50!!" I can honestly say, it wasn't that bad. It took maybe 20 minutes and she was able to get it all out of one vein. I just didn't look at all.
Good Luck!

Re: Dr. Braverman girls....Bloodwork
What happened to me with Braverman's bloodwork was awful. I went to Enzo. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT go to Enzo. They took 24 vials of blood...didn't have the tests, sent the vials to Quest of all places to process but they messed it up and never processed anything so no bloodwork was ever done!!!
I started seeing a perinatologist after getting pregnant and he wanted what Braverman drew and then some so I had went to LabCorp this time and they drew 34 vials Thankfully they were able to do it in one visit, they said if it were 35 I would have had to come back for a second visit
But I didn't pass out or anything so its alllll good.

Re: Dr. Braverman girls....Bloodwork
So funny Lauren, b/c I had the complete opposite experience with labcorp and enzo!!
Honestly, it all depends on which specific lab you go to. I went to labcorp in Commack first and when she looked at the list of tests, she not only rolled her eyes, she called Braverman's office to ask if they were all necessary. WTH? That's none of her business. I waited an hour and then she finally told me she was waiting for the processing lab to get back to her, b/c she didn't know what one test was. Long story short, I asked her for the prescirption back and left. I decided to go to Enzo in Smithtown.
I called Braverman's office from the parking lot and they called ahead to the Enzo office. When I got there, it was empty and the girl had all the labels all printed out for me, ready to go. It took 10 minutes for all 20+ vials. Effortless!! It did take awhile to get the results, but Sandra called them to see what the hold up was. They said they didn't send any of the results yet, b/c they wer e waiting for one more test to come back. Within 15 minutes, they faxed the results that day.

I just came back from round 2 b/c of the perinatologist wanted even MORE tests- who knew after Braverman there was any more tests even left- but lo and behold another 24 vials and a very very cranky phlebotomist...
edited to add: while I was waiting for the lab tech to enter all the tests into the computer I noticed one of Braverman's scripts taped to the wall- I think he's developing a rap sheet at all the regional labs.. this was Quest in 'Pequa

That's funny, Michelle because I remember commenting on your FB status, don't go to Enzo! I'm glad it worked out
