Anyone know a good Plumber (((CHEAP!!))))
I smelled a bit of gas in the apartment downstairs so I called National Grid to check it out. They came within the hour and had to shut us down Turns out that the "Little Smell" was actually a HUGE gas leak. The guy sprayed the water bottled on the pipes and you could see the water literally squirting back out of the holes in about 3 spots.
DH is going to fix it up but I need a plumber...someone reliable but cheap, to come and do a Pressure Test and issue a certificate.
Do you ladies have any recommendations?? THANK YOU!!!

Not sure how far he would go, but it's worth the try. Highly recommend:
Island Steam and Water Jack Koros 516-747-5066
Quick question though, doesn't National Grid have to come and do the pressure test and inspect?

Apparently not. I've never owned a home before but when the guy came he said he was going to "safe off" one of the valves til we can get it fixed but then noticed another huge leak and said the only thing he can do is shut it down for our safety. He also wrote on the ticket that we'll have to provide a Pressure Test Certificate before they will turn us back on. We won't actually be living in the house for another 2 weeks and it's warm so we don't need heat which makes it not SO bad...but still, this is some money I wasn't planning to spend right now.

We have used Chapman Services for our renovations and a few repairs, ie: leaking toilet, relocating washer hookup and dry well. He's based in Selden but does a lot of work on the south shore and even into Nassau. I don't have any comparison to say his prices are cheap but I think they have been fair, and his work is good. If you're still looking give him a call and let him know what you need to have done. Terry Chapman - (631) 433-5542

We use George Schoenwalder. He always comes immediately and is VERY reasonably priced. His cell # is 516-993-2733 Good luck!
