What would you do?
I've had 6 IUI's so far and the results are as follows
1st - unmedicated, BFN 2nd- clomid, 3 follies, BFP but m/c 7 wks 3rd- clomid, 4 follies, BFP but chemical 4th- clomid, 4 follies, BFN 5th- clomid 3 follies BFN 6th- clomid 3 follies BFN
All of the above IUI's were done at the same RE but I've recently switched to Dr. Braverman. I'm on a break this month b/c he wanted to start me on Metformin but next month I plan on cycling again. I havent tried injections yet. I believe Dr. B wants to try one month on an oral med like clomid but it doesnt affect your uterine lining (I forget the name of it I think it starts with an L). So if that doesnt work would you would you skip injections all together and just begin IVF? I'm so hestitant to do IVF b/c of financial reasons. We have Ins coverage for IF but I'm afriad one cycle of IVF would eat up whatever lifetime max we have left. And down the road I would definately like to have more children. Should I stick with the IUI's since they've worked for me in the past or should I move on to IVF? Any input is welcomed

Re: What would you do?
I would try injectables before IVF and see if that works since you want to try and save the IF coverage for future children, but if it doesn't work, go onto IVF.

Re: What would you do?
I would do one more IUI but that's all. Then onto IVF.
You need to think about getting pg now, not the future. So many things can happen between the time you get pg this time and when you would try for #2.
For example -
If you do IVF now, you could end up with multiples!!! Then you may not want to get pg again.
Or, if you get pg with a singleton, you may have frosties left over for future babies. A frozen cycle is a lot less expensive than a fresh cycle.
Also, you have to think - you may change jobs and no longer have this insurance in the future OR, your job (or whoever has the insurance) can change plans at any time. So, what are you saving it for??? Both these scenarios happened to us but luckily, for the better. I switched jobs to one with coverage and DH's company changed plans and the new plan has IVF coverage. Anything can happen.
Yes, IUI got you pg in the past but, I'd go for the one that gave me the better odds.

Hey Lisa. I know this is a tough choice, but I'm completely with Chirstine here. ITA! Best of luck to you, as always!

Re: What would you do?
Thank you girls so much.
Christine you made a lot of sense. My only concern is running out of IF coverage due to the IVF expense. But you're right it does increase my chances significantly. I will talk to Dr. B next time I see him and see what he thinks.
