Formula ?

For those who formula feed, do you store the excess formula from a feeding in the ref and give it to your baby the next time around or do you discard any unused?

Re: Formula ?

You are supposed to discard any unused because once the babies mouth has touched it it can spread germs.

In the beginning it's a lot of wasted formula but then you get used to how much your baby eats and you know how much to give her.

Definitely throw it away. The formula companies recommend you toss it after 1 hr.

Re: Formula ?

you are to discard the unused portion after 1 hr (Sometimes Aly will eat 4 oz, hang out, burp, and take the last 2 oz 20 min later)

I stored in the fridge and used at the next feeding. I never knew this was a no-noChat Icon Alex made it through OK.

Yeah, I find it interesting that the formula companies recommend this...of course they would, it means we're buying more formula!

Anyhow, occasionally, I'll refrigerate the unused portion, but more often than not, throw it out. Like a previous poster said, after time you get to know when and how much your baby is going to eat.

Re: Formula ?

If it's an ounce or two left, I'll throw it away. If it's anymore than that it goes in the fridge and I'll try to feed it to him 1-2 hours later.
