those who had Gestational Diabetes
Did you deliver your baby early? If so, how many weeks early?
Induced labor?
Planned c/s?
Thank you..

Re: those who had Gestational Diabetes
I delivered 3 days before my due date on a c-section we planned a few days before because the baby was measuring large on the sonograms. She measured 10-4 but was 9-10.

Re: those who had Gestational Diabetes
There is NO reason to have a planned c/s because you have GD. Controlled GD is nothing to worry about..uncontrolled would be a reason for a concern from an OB. I was on 4 shots of insilin a day and tested my blood sugar 4x a day. I was also on a special diet. I was NOT a happy camper at all. Let me know if I can be of ANY help.
GD does NOT = a big baby. Molly was 7lbs 15oz. She was TOTALLY healthy. She never had a sugar problem at all!!!

Re: those who had Gestational Diabetes
I controlled the GD with diet, but the Dr. thought my baby would be bigger. She was 7-14 and they were predicting closer to 9 pounds. I was due 12/23, induced 12/21, my daughter was born 12/22. My induction did not work, and I ended up with a c-section.

Re: those who had Gestational Diabetes
I cintrolled my GD with diet also. I delivered 4 weeks early and Jillian was 6lbs 14 oz. but i also had pregnancy induced hypertension which gives a small baby so i was tilting the baby weight scalew both ways. I was induced and was only in labor for 12 hours and pushed for 30 min.

Re: those who had Gestational Diabetes
I had GD with my 2nd pregnancy. I was on Insulin with every meal and once at bedtime. I also had to check my sugar 4x a day.
I delivered my daughter via an induction at 39 wks. According to the sonogram is was 8lb12oz the day before her birth. She was 8lbs13oz. She was the easiest delievery despite her size and she had no issuses with her blood sugar at birth.

Re: those who had Gestational Diabetes
My son was born 2 days before my due date and I went into labor. I ended up with a section, but that was because I didn't dilate past 6 cen. I also controlled mine by diet.

Re: those who had Gestational Diabetes
I had controlled GD with diet (and yes blood testing 4 times a day but you get so use to it).
I had my baby 3 weeks early but nothing to do with GD. My water broke, conrtactions 5 minutes apart btu I needed to be induced with pitocin since there was no dilation and I had the strep B and needed to be on IV anti-biotics.
My baby was small 7lbs 2 oz (but remember 3 weeks early) and he was hypoglycemic - which surprised all the drs since my GD numbers were so low and controlled for over amonth and since the baby was so small. He was in the hospital in NICU for 5 days.
My drs all said - you do not need c or to be induced with GD - just careful monitoring of the baby and my sugars was fine. My baby measured bigger than usual at all sonos as well and they still weren't into rushing the baby out but my baby had his own thoughts on rushing out.
If you want chat about GD, please Fm.
