Vegas hotels---which would you choose?

First--I <3 you Yesi (MrsQin2007) for showing me that site with the great promo codes for Vegas!

So here are the 2 hotel choices I'm narrowing it down to which would you pick?

Both hotels are for 3 nites/4 days

The Mirage -- for $259 we get a deluxe room that has a 1 kind bed or 2 queen beds, approx 394 sq ft, 42" LCD tv, sealy beds, etc. The thing I like a lot about this hotel is that it is very centrally located in the middle of the strip, so much more accessible to all the hotels by foot (since we won't bother with renting a car.) The room itself is not as nice and spacious as the other choice....

MGM Grand -- for $273 we get a Celebrity Spa suite, with 1 kind bed, approx 694 sq ft. and has a whirlpool tub as well as double vanity sink in the bathroom with separate shower. Obviously this room is much nicer than the one at the Mirage. However I'm a little turned off by the sheer size of the resort at MGM Grand and its a little bit more south on the Strip compared to the Mirage.

So which would you choose? The better room with not as great location and huge property? Or the regular room with much better property location?

I've stayed at the Mirage and really liked it. It is in a great location. The pools are really nice and the dolphin pool in the back is fun to see (I think they still have that). Plus they have a great buffet! Have fun!

Here's my 2cents.....

If you're going to relax at the hotel for most of the trip and do a little gambling now and then and maybe some sight seeing then do MGM since it's further way and more expensive for taxi's to take you to the middle of the strip, but if this is a gambling, sightseeing, just need a place to sleep and rest now and then trip do the Mirage! It's in the middle of everything and it will be cheaper in the long run w/taxi fare. It's a nice hotel as well, and they have done a nice job upgrading it. I love it's location around the Flamingo, Harrah's Venitian, Bellagio, Ceasars(?) and Treasure Island. It really is so close to many attractions and hotels and so worth it!

Chat Icon You're welcome!

Ok, so the first time DH and I went to Vegas we stayed at TheHOTEL at Mandalay Bay which is even further south than MGM. We had a great time and walked a lot. We did pay for a cab a couple of times and it racked up quick. The room was a suite so it was really nice to end up there each day.

Every other time we've gone, we've stayed more central strip and once we stayed more "north" strip at the Wynn. In the end, I think I prefer staying more centrally because it's an easier walk if you want to get anywhere and also a cab ride doesn't cost QUITE as much from the center of the strip to some places.

I see the issue with the rooms - you do save a bit by staying at the Mirage, but you'd have about 300 sq. feet less. When we stay in the central strip area, we usually just go for a room and not a suite because of cost.

I'd say flip a coin! lol. I'm no help.

They are both in a great location.

Personally, I'd pick the Mirage, but if you have never been to either, its an even toss. I know I'm no help. Chat Icon
