I know I dont post here normally, but I need help..

I am a usual poster, but mostly on the parenting board, and I have NO fashion sense. I need help, and am hoping someone has suggestions.

In a couple of weeks, I have to attend a day with DH and his company. First there will be Brunch at the Garden city hotel, then off to a broadway show, then directly to a dinner cruise in NY harbor...which we are supposed to be dressed up in formal atire for.

No place to change..what can I wear for the whole day, that will be comfortable, and meet the dress requirements..please keep in mind I am a plump lady...size 14 with a big chest, that i don't like to show too much, LOL

Re: I know I dont post here normally, but I need help..

How much are you willing to spend?

I think if you go with a long dress that can be casual during the day and dressed up with some jewlery and shoes at night would be great. I feel like the any pants would be super wrinkled and creased by the time the formal dinner would roll around, KWIM?

ETA:
For example if you were to wear something like this for brunch and the show...

Pair it with a nice belt and some nice leather flip flops or flats.

And then at night, ditch the sweater, add heels, do up your makeup and add some jewlery. You'd look hot!!

**This is so something I'd wear and it sounds like we have the same figure.

Or this dress from Macy's..

With a black sweater like the one in my other post for the day. And then again, ditch the sweater, add some heels and jewlery, and ta-da!!!

I agree with the PP, I'd go with a dress, and then maybe add a shrug over it for night.

This is really pretty:http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=373599&CategoryID=22416

and with a white shrug for brunch it could be really cute.

Re: I know I dont post here normally, but I need help..

these are all great ideas, but its the V neck thats killing me..I have so many dresses at home with very similar cuts, and I feel like my boobs are just magnified...I've become so self concious of them. I need to lose weight..and lose some of the girls, LOL.

I loove that black long dress, it looks so comfy..where is that from? I have never tried on a dress like that, I wonder what it would look like? i am 5'7" I wonder if it will be ok...guess I need to try one on and see.

I love to keep it to $100 (not including accessories) just the pants or dress. I would love some spring print, but a slimming onw, LOL...I know, I am asking for too much, HA!Chat Icon

The long black dress is from Ann Taylor
Here's the link

And I hear ya about the boobs... mine are huge, but v-necks are so much more flattering... it draws attention away from my mid-section (which is such a problem area).

The size chart says a large is a 12/14... take a look at the measurements.

Either way, this dress style is pretty popular... I'll look around for you to see if there's something similar.

Re: I know I dont post here normally, but I need help..

Both of those are beautiful, but I looove that long dress...now just get me the VS body to go with it..seriously I have to try this style on, because it just looks sooo pretty. TOmorrow, I am on the hunt, If I find that this style suits me, I think I will order that dres.. thank you SO MUCH for your help. I wouldnt have thought to check VS.

Oh and the sizing, for dresses I usually take a 16 for the bust, and sometimes just get the bottom altered, all depnds on the dress, but with Jersey, I can get away with smaller sizing, just depends.

It sounds like you understand my frustration.
