When booking to Vegas -- what do you use?

A local TA? A travel deal site?

DH and I might be heading there in August and I swear there are soooooo many sites that supposedly have the "best deal" - my head is spinning.

Any recs to look for the best rates?

Try expedia first and see what the best deal is that you want then check some other websites. Maybe go to a TA and see if they can beat the deal Expedia gave you and if not then stick with the best. For Las Vegas I've gotten pretty good deals on Expedia

thanks--i've been checking expedia, priceline, and bookit.com

i love the rates of bookit--BUT the flights they give are ridiclious with the times and # of stops. booking hotel & flight separate ends up coming out to much more than i wanted to spend.

Chat Icon i always hate this part of planning a vacay. i have a TA checking things out for me too but i wanted to have the best deal ready for the TA to match.

what airline do you fly when going to vegas?

I recently used US Airways vacations for Vegas, the flights were more convenient than the ones offered by bookit.

Good luck! Chat Icon

Depends... I've flown Continental, US, etc. Whatever has the cheapest flight with the best times.

Re: When booking to Vegas -- what do you use?

We try to go to Vegas once a year and I always book it on my own. Sometimes I get a great deal booking hotel and air together on Expedia (they seem to have the best flight options in combination with hotels, for the best prices).

Other times, I've booked the air directly through the airline (after searching the travel sites for best deals) and then the hotel directly with the actual hotel. Sometimes there are discount codes available to get an even better deal directly with the hotel.

We always like getting the best early flight to Vegas and the early/mid afternoon flight back - that gets us the most time IN Vegas without having to stay an extra night or take the red eye flight back and having to go straight to work.

Check www.smartervegas.com - they post all the good discount codes for the hotels. I know Mirage is having a great offer - something like $60-85/night for the newly remodeled rooms through September.

Hope that helps!!!

ETA: Try the code 35VOLCANO for the Mirage and get 35% off the rates. I think that's the best offer they have and the Mirage is in a great location with an aweeeesome pool. I stayed there for my bachelorette party and loved everything EXCEPT the old school design of the room, but since then, those rooms have all been remodeled so it should be all good now.

There are other codes too, but this is the one that comes to mind.

Another thing to consider is that certain hotels have ONLY suites for their rooms. I've stayed at TheHOTEL at Mandalay Bay and those rooms/suites were SWEEEEEEEEET. Also, The Venetian, The Signature at MGM, and Rio Suites (but this one is off the strip) all have all only-suites rooms. They have discount offers for those hotels too on that website I gave you above, so keep that in mind.

- Mandalay Bay has an amazing pool
- MGM has something like 5 pools (I personally think this hotel is TOOOOO massively large, but DH stayed there for his bachelor party and the rooms were nice - in the regular MGM, not The Signature).
- Mirage has a really nice pool area and good location. Great breakfast/lunch buffet for a good price.
- Wynn's regular rooms are really pretty and spacious.
- Paris' rooms are large and nice, location is great, but we didn't like the entry/exit of the lobby area (always very mobbed because of the setup).
- Palms is really nice, but I prefer to stay on the strip and go out there for one night of partying and playing.
- The Venetian is also in a great location and they have indoor and outdoor gondola rides.

The last time I was there, I booked the hotel through Hotels.com and got 1 night free for every two I booked.

Also, Southwest Airlines has had some awesome deals on flights to Vegas leaving from MacArthur lately.
