car rental from HotWire
The past two years I have booked car rentals directly from Alamo and gotten great prices. This year all of the prices are through the roof. And trust me, I've looked through my timeshare, through Costco and directly through websites and the prices are crazy. I'm thinking of using HotWire because I can get an SUV with in airport pickup for $270- which is like $200 less then I've found elsewhere. Just wondering if anyone has used them and if there are any hidden fees I should know about. The price they quote says that it includes all applicable tax recovery charges and fees. I just don't want to be in for any surprises on check in.

Re: car rental from HotWire
As long as you don't take any extras at the rental car counter (gps, fuel option, insurance, etc.), you shouldn't have to pay a thing.
I rented a car through hotwire last week and my fuel option and insurance costs were as much as my hotwire costs.

Can I ask why you added those things on? I never add the insurance and always refill the gas tank before we return the car.

My return flight was at night, I was alone and I knew I wouldn't feel comfortable driving around that particular area for a gas station.
Insurance, because I read a thread on here earlier that week and got paranoid. If I'm with DH, we use his Amex for rental cars because he paid for extra coverage through them.

Re: car rental from HotWire
OK makes sense. I wound up booking it and was very happy that they gave me Alamo. That's the agency we always use, so I know just where the pick up area is and it's so convenient!!!

Re: car rental from HotWire
I've always rented through hotwire - the rates are usually a lot better than the rental car companies, and I've never had any problems or unexpected surcharges
