If you have done IVF 2 or more times....
Is this normal to feel this way and how can I get over it? Or what should I do?
My first IVF failed in December. The time has finally come for me to start again. All insurance and schedules are in order. Why do I feel like putting it off another cycle? Because I am so scared of it not working and going through that pain again. Pain that I have never fully recovered from anyway. A pain so deep, that if you have been through it I am sure you can understand. I am just so scared of the outcome. Scared that I will not be able to get through it. It takes all of my strength to get through the day without breaking down and going completely mad.
Trying to think positive but does it hurt "less" the second or third time around?

I can't tell you if it gets better but I can offer hugs and lots of good luck! Just remember that you will be more informed now and that you will ask more questions along the way. Also - maybe the protocol will be different and of course the outcome!!

I know its hard , because of the fear of it not working and because the "innocence" is lost that you may have felt the first time ...But unfortunately " you gotta be in it to win it" ( sorry for the corny analogy) ..If I had not followed through a second tiime, I would not have my DD ....Try to stay focused, as hard as it is

Re: If you have done IVF 2 or more times....
We were successful on our third IVF cycle. Of course the failure of the first two cycles were disappointing but I really felt that it was eventually going to work so I was always anxious to start the next cycle.
I read a statistic that kept me optimistic - over 70% of women will get pregnant within 3 IVF cycles.
Hang in there! And good luck!!!

I can totally relate to your feelings, especially the way you described the "deep" hurt. My 2nd IVF was canceled and my 3rd was a BFN. I have no idea how I am making it through all this, you just do what you have to. Unfortunately it doesn't really get easier, but I think the 1st failure was by far the worst. After that I think you reach a different level of IF, hard to explain I guess. Good luck to you! Stay strong and just keep going!

I 100% know what you mean. The 1st time I was so confident it would work I was devastated when it did not. The 2nd time I mentally and physically prepared myself for either outcome. But also - I do NOT think that thinking negative and "projecting" that it will not work helps either Do you know what I mean? I am sending you tons and tons of

Re: If you have done IVF 2 or more times....
It never gets any easier. I always like the time I had to wait between cycles because I still had the hope of the cycle working. Once I was in it, it was gonna be over fast and a result one way or the other.
What got easier for me was knowing what was going on on the U/S and with the blood work and the shots got to be nothing.
But, don't let any of that stop you. You must move forward and hoping that that means a BFP very soon for you.
Wish you lots and lost of luck

Re: If you have done IVF 2 or more times....
Thanks so much ladies. I guess I am having a pity party for myself even though I am trying my hardest to be positive. I was positive the first time around and then I got smacked in the face with the harsh reality so it's just hard as I am sure some of you can understand... I guess I just have to jump in and do it. DH and I decided we are not waiting more than one cycle in between to start again if this time around does not work. I guess all that idle time did us more good than bad.
Thanks again everyone! I really appreciate your advice.

Me too... Maybe think of it as 3rd time a charm??? I would ask your Dr. if there is anything you can do to increase your chances this time around...
We did a uterine biopsy, (I think thats what it was called) and then I read on here and other sites that you usually get prego after that b/c its scraping clean the uterus wall... we didn't do it b/c of that particular reason, but I think it had something to do with the fact that I got prego the next time around...
Good Luck... I know its so hard to stay positive throughout this process... but it is the ONLY thing that can get you through it.
