Going out tomorrow night with 5 couples
they all have small kids.
I never felt the effects of IF as much as I do right now.
DH asked me if I wanted to invite another couple that doesn't have kids.
No, that doesn't help.
I love all of their kids but I know there will be a lot of the women in the group talking about the kids. I've had this experience before with some of the ladies.

Re: Going out tomorrow night with 5 couples
Ugghhhh I completely understand what you mean. I'm in that situation very often in my circle of friends. Between my friends and siblings- everyone has kids but me. The worst is feeling left out when they start talking about their kids. I know they mean no harm but it just stings when the entire evening revolves around "kid" talk. I hate that I sound bitter and I dont mean to be but its very difficult being on the outside looking in all the time.

Re: Going out tomorrow night with 5 couples
Not only does the "kid" talk frustrate me but pregnancy talk also...
Many of my friend either have small children or are PG and it's frustrating to not be able to join into any of the conversations.
It's at that point you have to talk to the men...
I hope you were able to get through dinner and that you had an enjoyable evening!

Re: Going out tomorrow night with 5 couples
Ugggghhh.....I hate that. And when couples suggest that they'll bring another couple w/out kids, it only makes me feel more like a reject.
Abougt a month ago, Dh and I were going out with a few couples who have kids and some friends of theirs. I was dreading it. It turns out that the other couple has IF issues too. I can't tell u how good it felt to talk to someone IRL about this. I felt an instant connection with her, as I suspect fellow mothers do with one another.
Hopefully it will be our turn soon!

Re: Going out tomorrow night with 5 couples
Oh don't I know what you mean. Try to pretend like you are enjoying the talk, even if its killing you inside. Usually if my friends even stop for a second to ask me how we are doing, I still can't get a word in because the topic changes right back to them. There's not much you can do about it. You can talk about weird crap at work and the economy etc... but they'll go right back for another story.
Can't really blame them, they have no idea they are doing it.
However, its not fun. But, maybe you will surprise yourself and get through it without any problems. And maybe, just maybe you will have a good time regardless (I'm hoping you do).
At least you are going out! I haven't been out with another couple in a long long time. Mostly because of our business, mostly.

I will be fine. It was just the thought of it.
DH doesn't understand why I'm in such a pizzy mood. He thinks I'm being a b!tch for no reason.

Re: Going out tomorrow night with 5 couples
had a good time. There was another couple that wasn't married and a single guy too. All in all, I hung around with one of the woman that has 3 kids because I know her the best. She tells me her sister is pregnant with twins from IVF.
Her sister had an awful time..she lost her first baby due to a genetic disease at about 2 years old. She had another child and he was fine and then had another and that baby also was sick from the same disease and she lost her at about 18 months.
So I'm happy for her sister..what a horrible story.
Just to clarify if anyone is after the first baby the docs told her it wasn't genetic since her other child was fine so they went ahead and had another baby. Only after the 3rd DC was diagnosed did the docs agree it was genetic and for her pregnancy now she had PGD done.
