Warning to those who have oil...

Make sure you get your burner cleaned out once a year. We had no clue and learned the hard way!
We had a puffback, which is what happens if you don't get it cleaned out. It gets clogged and black soot shoots out all over your house!
It was not as bad as it could be in our case but still bad! We have to have the house professionally cleaned by an industrial cleaning service, which costs a small fortune! We are going through insurance. Some rooms even have to be repainted.
I have been staying at my mom's house while this is going on since I am pregnant and don't want to breath it in.

the only good thing about this is I am getting an amazing spring cleaning!

And we are furious with Slomin's who never once told us we needed to get this cleaned since we have been customers, (since 2003)!

That STINKS!!!! I can't believe Slomins never mentioned it to you- our company reminds us every year. At least your insurance will help you out. I remember that happening to my parents house when I was younger and it was horibble.

I just switched to Slomins and my sales rep looked at the furnace and said it needed to be cleaned badly. They had a tech come in to clean it three weeks after the contract was signed.

I'm so sorry that that happened to you. That's horrible. Thank you for posting this. It's definitely something everyone should be aware of.

I can't believe Slomin's didn't send a reminder card in the mail. Most oil companies like to do the cleanings in the summer. I've dealt with 4 and they all do it that way.

I'm sorry for all of the hassle.
