I'm asking this is all seriousness
Did anyone take anti-anxiety meds while going through IVF, like Xanax or Valium? I haven't even had the consult yet but have the most ridiculous anxiety going on right now and I can't even imagine what it'll be like as it gets more real!! Or did you at least get it prior to ER/ET? I'm going to lose my mind, I can see it now! Pls FM me if you'd rather not say in public!
TIA!! Shawnna

Re: I'm asking this is all seriousness
I had a lot of other medical issues going on while stimming and my anxiety level was off the charts.
I didn't take anything but I did have a cocktail or a glass of wine at night to help relax me.
I would just ask your doc what he/she thinks and maybe give you a script.
It's very stressful.

Re: I'm asking this is all seriousness
I didn't take any meds, but I did a lot of stuff to help reduce my stress. I was in therapy and increased my sessions to once a week instead of twice a month. I started weekly acupuncture sessions, went on a healthy diet and started taking a LONG hour and a half walk everyday while listening to my favorite music. All of that really helped reduce my anxiety during the process.

I think its completely understandable if someone feels the need for anti-anxiety meds during IVF...... I can see that being me

Re: I'm asking this is all seriousness
Thanks guys. This is so not like me but guess the feeling of being out of control and not really *knowing* the IVF process (besides what other's report) has got me in a tizzie! I ordered the Coupes Guide to IVF so hopefully it'll get here soon and I can stick my head in that for a few days. Boy do I feel bad for that doctor next week!! He'll be earning his money with me in there!!

Re: I'm asking this is all seriousness
I was on xanax before I started with my IVF cycles last year. I stopped it once I started the BCP's. I didn't want anything interferring. Honestly, once you start with the stims and everything, you just go with the flow and it gets a lot easier. It's the anticipation that's the worst.
SIRM gives valium before transfer. It was wonderful!!!! I never had it with any other transfer and it really did make a difference for me. I wasn't as tense for the transfer.

Talk to your doc - I'm sure there are some things you can be put on that are safe during this time and like PP said, find other - non medicine ways to reduce anxiety - yoga is great!

Re: I'm asking this is all seriousness
I was on them before IVF...weaned my dosage down for IVF#1. Went completely off of them for IVF#2 and coincidence or not, I don't know, #2 is the cycle that worked. I wanted my body to be free and clear of any other meds. It was HARD but worth it.
