Does anyone else feel like a complete slave to running??
Okay I LOVE running. I truly do. When I am running I enjoy it - when it's over it's even better
Right now I am just JONESIN to do something else - badly!!! I am on week 9 of a 12 week half marathon training schedule and I think I am just totally consumed with getting all my mileage in for the week. I am also constantly thinking about what race I want to do next.
Anyone else feel this way??? I need to start riding my bike again...

Yeah I get that way when I have to run later in the day too. I did my run this morning but I'm now thinking about tomorrow!

Re: Does anyone else feel like a complete slave to running??
I am exactly the same way. I am addicted. All I think about is running. I love to run outside so I look to see what the weather is like to make sure that I get in my milage for the week. I always look the race schedules to see what I will do next. I hoping I get into the NYC Marathon this November. I am thinking about hiring a coach. I can't help it.

Yes!! I could have written this post myself. My daily schedule revolves around running.
I, too, keep track of my weekly mileage, which forces me to do that extra mile or two to get to the weekly goal. I figure this "addiction" is a good thing.

I think about running quite a bit too! And, almost every single strengthening exercise I do is to improve my running! I mean, my hips, medial glutes, hamstrings, calves, etc.
I am really into biking lately too. I just have to get my butt to the store to buy one!

Re: Does anyone else feel like a complete slave to running??
Yes when I get really into it, I look forward to my run all day & get angry if something prevents me from doing it. But I never seem to be able to keep it up very long because I'm always getting injured running (my back, knees, etc.) so I'm always forced to take week-long breaks & so I rarely get that momentum going but when I do, I'm very much addicted to it!

OMG - you HAVE to read Chi Running - he talks about how people just accept that you get injured from running - he talks about form that prevents that. I'm still reading it....
I have to say, I was obsessed, but needed to add other things because I was getting obsessed and in some ways, bored because of it - if that makes sense!!!

Re: Does anyone else feel like a complete slave to running??
I run 2-3 times a week but yes I am pretty obsessed with races lately. I feel I need to keep signing up for them otherwise I may lose motivation or stamina! My next race is in 3 weeks but will I do after that??? PS - I hate running in the summer so I am dreading that :( I made it all winter running outside but when I think of the summer I am just like

EXACTLY!!!
I finally started riding my bike to school again today so hopefully that will break things up. I want to do it at least twice a week on my non-running days.

We are total opposites! I love the summer and move indoors for the winter. But our powers combined makes an awesome all-season runner

Re: Does anyone else feel like a complete slave to running??
I'm starting to feel the training pressure for the half - It's really close to the race...so I think it's normal to be thinking about it. You've invested a lot of time into the training...and the milage is only increasing.
Why not look into a sprint triathlon? I love them and they definitely force you to do other activities.

I was actually going to do a Biathalon this month but the running just kind of took over. This is definitely something I want to do in the future but I'm still not really sure what I want to do after this. I know I want to keep my mileage up now that I've built it up and will stick to my long runs on the weekends.
I may run the Brooklyn half at the end of May but other than that I'm clueless

the nyc/central park half is in July - maybe that would be less stressful?
I was thinking about it until this week...
