LA Fitness

I am thinking of going to look at LA Fitness in Farmingdale and possibly join mainly because of the kids club. I was wondering if anyone goes here and what are your opinions of it and if you don't mind telling me what the monthly cost is.

i pay $50/month and it was like $150 down. i like it. it's big and i usually didn't have too much trouble getting onto machines even though i went at busy times. i've never been blocked out of a class (which was one of the reasons i left my previous gym).

i just quit LA Fitness. I liked it for awhile but then it started to get to me. The pros:

- huge
- classes at all times (afternoon classes on the weekend impressed me, I don't know any other gym that offers that)
- great value (I paid the same as the above poster)
- lots of amenities for the price: pool, jacuzzi, etc.

Cons:
- I had to leave my house 1 HOUR early to get a spin bike on saturday morning...ridiculous!!
- The club isn't kept up very well - dirty. empty water bottles all over the floor, used tissues on the floor and in the compartments of just about any machine you go on, etc. Wallpaper is peeling in the locker room, pool is dirty.
- Not a lot of really great instructors. Some are amazing, most are just okay
