Ours is in a spare bedroom. We dont' have a basement but if we did it would be down there.
It stinks not having a basement!!!

same with us!
we dont have many guests, but if we do, we just move his litter box into our bedroom for the night
when the guest room eventually becomes a baby room, we will probably move the litter box into the office OR the downstairs bathroom

I have two. One in the downstairs bathroom. The other in the upstairs laundry room.
We had a big problem with our cats before going outside of the box. It was territorial and with the new cats we just kept two.
At one point we had 4 litter boxes..2 more in the basement.
We have two kitties.

I have 4 cats...I bought one of these because I have no basement and I have it right in the hallway. It works out great. I used to keep a litter box in the bathroom but I couldn't stand stepping on litter when I got out of the shower because the cats LOVE to dig.
