What do you think
I began training for 5K, my first one, I have never run before and I got a REALLY bad case of shin splints, dr. thought it was a stress fracture.
Anyway, I really dont want to do permanent damage just to run a silly race, but I loved pushing myself further than I ever had.
Do you think biking could give you the same intense workout like running does?
I just biked about 2 miles and felt pretty good but I was wondering if anyone bikes, if you get results from it, and how many miles a day is a good amount?
TIA

Re: What do you think
I bike and run and the truth is IMO there is no better total body workout than running. That being said you can get a great cardio workout from biking but you have to make sure you are getting your heart rate up. Do you know what your heart rate is or your rate of perceived exertion (RPE)?

If you increase the level of resistance on the bike & keep your speed up, you can get a great cardio workout on the bike & sweat like crazy, and it's not as hard on your joints as running is (I'm currently doing this since I'm constantly injuring myself running so I have to have a back up).
