Going to Las Vegas:
I had no idea I was going to Vegas until this morning when my sister told me she booked a trip for April break (we both work in the same school and are off the same week)... So, she booked a trip and said 'you're coming with me!' Lucky me! It's cool b/c it is only a week away so no waiting to go on vacation which is nice. She got an amazing deal from a short notice travel site.
I've never been there before - I never really had a desire to go because I'm not a gambler but started looking into it and there's a lot of other stuff to do. She even bought tix for "Love" which I really want to see so I'm looking forward to it. We will be there for six days... Any suggestions or must sees?
We are staying at Caesar's Palace - Seems like a pretty hotel and wow, WHAT A DEAL!!! She's so funny - booking a trip on a whim!
ETA: Thanks!!!

Re: Going to Las Vegas:
Thats so awesome of your sister! You'll have so much fun, I hear the "Love" show is great. Caesars's is a beautiful hotel in the best location. Also, since you're staying there you don't have to wait on line to get into PURE. Thats a really fun nightclub with the ***** Cat Doll lounge. I've always wanted to go to Red Rock Canyon. You should look into a tour online that goes there. Have fun!
ETA: i guess i can't write the full name of the lounge!

Re: Going to Las Vegas:
First off, how cool!!! That was really nice of your sister.
Second, DH and I are not gamblers, but we loveeee Vegas. We usually go once a year and we gamble very little, but we just enjoy the scene. Definitely make time to go in and out of all the major hotels - they all have their own theme and things to see.
Things to NOT miss are: The Bellagio fountains at NIGHT. Beautiful. Also, definitely check out the Bellagio Conservatory - it's amaaaaazing what they can do with flowers! Every single time we go, there's an entirely different display. Also, go to the top of the Eiffel Tower - I prefer it at night. If you want some things to do, you can go to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, go see the brand new Volcano outside of Mirage (it goes off once an hour from 8pm til midnight)... hmmm what else?
The breakfast/lunch buffet at Mirage is very reasonable and great.
Since you're there for 6 days, you guys should consider a trip out to the Grand Canyon - it's definitely a long day, but it's SOOO worth it!
I'll try to think of other good ideas. Have a great time!!!

YAY -- we just booked a trip to Vegas and are leaving on Saturday! Our first time. Have fun!!!
ETA - the only thing we have planned so far is that we're going to see Jersey Boys at the Palazzo. Elton John is playing too at Caesers but not sure if we're going since we've seen him once before with Billy Joel. Check out bestofvegas.com for cheaper tickets.

Thats soo nice of your sister! You are going to have such a great time!
DH and I aren't gamblers either. I get so moody and upset when I lose, even if its $10! SO we only play here and there when we go. We've been there four times in the past three years. There is so much to do that you don't even think of the fact that its a gambling town.
I love walking from hotel to hotel. Each one is so unique and has so many things for you to see.
As far as places to eat, where we go every year is Canaletto's in the Venetian. Its an Italian restaurant and they are really nice and inexpensive. Dh and I ate there once for two meals and an appetizer, the meal came to $35.
FM me if you want any more restaurant recommendations!

I just got back last night. We stayed at the Mirage and we saw "Love".. You will Love it!!!!!!!!!! It was so good and I am usually anti-Cirque Du Soliel.....
The buffet at the Mirage that a PP mentioned was very good (Cravings Buffet). Weekdays it is cheap, weekends its twice the price.

Re: Going to Las Vegas:
A side trip to Bryce Canyon or Zion is easier to do in one day than the Grand Canyon.
have fun!

You are in a great location! Definitely bring your walking shoes because you will be doing A LOT of that! Definitely check out the Palms and Rio (which has the best buffet).

Re: Going to Las Vegas:
I have a list of must do's (I actually used to live there!)
- Fountains at Bellagio -Conservatory at Bellagio - Crepes from Le Creperie in Paris - Parasol Down at Wynn for drinks (sit at the outside patio that overlooks the waterfall for drinks after 7:00 and some funky shows) - La Fontana Bar Bellagio (they have cool bands bands and you can watch the fountain show) - My favorite casinos: Venetian, Wynn, Bellagio - See a Cirque Show if possible. My favs are "O" and Mystere. Havent seen Love yet so have fun! -I also love Red Rock Canyon and Lake Las Vegas but they are 20 minutes away or more. Also the Hoover Dam tour is amazing, but again it is like 45 minutes away.
If you need restaurant or club referrals I can help out too! Let me know!
