Planet Fitness in Melville??
I live in Huntington and I am thinking of joining Planet Fitness because they are running a "join for $1" promotion. Does anyone go here? Is it good? I went to a small gym in Huntington for a while that was just machines and that was fine with me - so I don't expect classes or a pool - just want to know what it's like (are the workers nice, is it clean, etc). THANKS!

I went to the one in Centereach and my Co-worker goes to the one in Melville. It's clean in there. The gym itself is really just a gym. There are no classes. It's basically a huge room with all machines. They have weight machines, circuit training and then a section with treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes and etc. It's great if you aren't going for the classes and just want to use the machines.

I go to the one in centereach. Its ok..for 10 dollars a month its great. But they lack a lot of basic machines other gyms have. I feel overall they don't have enough...I liked my other gym a lot more..but hey for 10 bucks a month I guess you get what you pay for

Ok. It sounds like what I want -- I just use the treadmill, elliptical and some of the weight machines, plus free weights - nothng fancy for me. NOW, the question is, if I join ...

I live in your area as well and I think the travel time to Melville will deter me, I don;t think I would ever go, it will be a 30-40 min round trip drive. I need something that is convenient especially since it is somerthing that I should be doing a few times per week.

I'm trying to decide between Melville or Hicksville. I live smack in the middle of both. I want to join before tomorrow before their $1 promo ends, but I can't get there today to or tomorrow....anyone know which one is better?

You probably would like Melville more. Hicksville is good but it is located in a ground floor which can be a little stuffy and I think it is smaller than Melville. I go to both.

Not sure where you live, but TONL Fitness in Huntington village is nice. I quit because .. well, I wasn't going and it was a waste of money for me (since I wasn't using it) but it's a good gym, nice people go there and it's always clean -- and the owner is really nice. I got one personal training session with him last april and when he saw me, he would say hi and tell me if I was doing something wrong, etc (in a nice way). Through globalfit (a program I was enrolled in through my health ins., it was a perk) it as $25 a month and 100% worth it when I was going. Check it out.

I live in Lindenhurst and signed up at Bayshore. I currently go to the PF in Melville. I love it. It's clean and there is always availibility on the machines. HTH
