Cat Yowling Every morning.. Help.

Please help...

Every once in awhile, in the wee hours of the morning, the cats would start scratching on the bedroom door and run around yowling. We dealt w/it because it was only every once in awhile. (As much as I hate them scratching up my doors!)

Well, one of the cats has taken it further and now he will do it, literally, 5 to 6 nights a week!! He actually rarely scratches (or will just do it for a few seconds) but instead he will sit outside the door and yowl like crazy. Or he'll wander around the house yowling. I once timed him - 20 minutes straight (and he only stopped when we went out there).

We try to ignore but end up getting up to yell at them, since there's no way to sleep through it. It usually take 2 to 3 times of that before he finally shuts up for good.

We think he just gets bored and lonely and wants to play and be with us. They do def. have food and water so that's not it... But what can we do to stop it? I've always been tired but these days I am just exhausted because of this. I'm starting to get to the need of my rope here.

HOW do we get him to stop????

Miller used to do this EVERY SINGLE MORNING!!!!! usually he starts around 4/5am.... except, we allow him to sleep with us so he usually jumps off the bed and stands on the floor meowing

i started spraying him with the water bottle... after one spray he runs away and comes back NOT meowing and just plops down on the floor or bed

it took a few days for him to understand that if he meows like crazy, he will get shot with water lol now he only does it like 2-3 times a week

i would try even spraying the water on the door while he is scratching.. i bet the noise would scare him

Thanks for the reply. He usually runs away when he hears us coming toward the door. He doesn't like the water spray though but I didn't even think of using it (duh.) I'll try it, thank you. (And good news, he didn't do it this morning yay)

If he runs away before you can spray him, keep a can of pennies by the door. Every time he starts yowling, immediately shake the can as loudly as possible.
