Outerwear help!
I need some help! And I honestly don't know the difference between coat and jacket so I don't know which I need 
Anyhoo - I live in California, so I don't need something too heavy.. but it does get pretty cold here in the mornings (sometimes 45).
I want something that can be for work or weekend (work is pretty casual too). Nothing cropped.
I saw one that I loved.. someone was wearing it - but I didn't have a chance to ask where it was from.
I'd love something maybe more of a sweater coat... the one I saw was black, came down to around the butt, and was a thick cotton (I think!)
Can anyone help?

If you are looking for something to replace your fleece it prob won't be warm enough but it is on sale!!

I like something that covers my butt
I like a trench STYLE... but just not the fabrics that I've seen them in.. they are too lightweight - KWIM?
