A few questions
I have a few questions for anyone that is able to answer. First how long were you ttc before you or your dr became concern enough to go to a fertility dr? Do you need you ob/gyn to refer you to one? Do you have any other children?
I only ask because about 3 years ago I had a miscarriage. It took Dh and I for our DS about 4 months or so. We have been trying for DC # 2 for almost a year now and no luck. We are doing everything possible like temp, ovulation test, etc. I am becoming increasing concern
Thanks

Re: A few questions
I am 34 have 1 child already, got pregnant with him instantly (we weren't even trying just seeing what happened) pregnancy was perfect. this time around I have had 2 early mc's within the last 8 mos of trying. My OBGYN recommened I go to an RE after the 2nd MC, I ended up choosing a different DR through recommendations on here.

Re: A few questions
We were TTCing for almost a year when I spoke to my Gyn and she recommended us to a urologist (for a sperm analysis) and an RE.
If you're concerned, talk to your dr. see if he/she has someone to recommend and what they think.

Re: A few questions
I would def see an RE...
For us it was a no brainer to see one b/c we knew we were going to do IVF for genetics reasons.
But do to the fact of your history, and you have already been trying for 1 year... it can't hurt...
I know its a scary thought transferring over... but it will get you steps closer to your goal.
My OB did recommend me to a specific RE, but then I picked one on my own... I think it depends on your insurance if you actually need a referral to an RE...
Good Luck.

Re: A few questions
Thank you ladies for all your help and answers. It means a lot to me. I spoke with my Dh last night and he was the one that suggested we see a RE. I really am not crazy about my Ob/gyn so I wasn't sure if I needed him in order to see a Re. Should I first get a new OB/Gyn or should I bypass him and go see a RE? Also can anyone recommend one? I am willing to travel anywhere. Thanks again And best of luck to each of you.

Re: A few questions
I was TTC for about 7 months (using OPKs, etc.) when I had my annual appointment with my ob-gyn. I brought up my concerns to her and she suggested that I get the ball rolling on fertility testing.
I was 28 at the time and most ob-gyns do suggest waiting a year if you are under 35, but she thought I should proceed and I am very happy she did. I had some initial testing done at her office and she thought that I possibly had PCOS and a uterine polyp.
I went straight to the RE and have been seeing him since July 2008. My health insurance does not require referrals.
I have no other children and recently had a m/c.
If you have been trying for a year, I would definitely see an RE. Good luck

Re: A few questions

In my heart, I was concerned after about 6 months. After 9 months, we had an SA done. After 12 months, we did CD 3 b/w and an HSG. After 13 months, we went to an RE. (I am under 35).
Do you need you ob/gyn to refer you to one?
With our insurance, we did need a referral from my ob/gyn and had to have been trying on our own for 1 year.
Do you have any other children?
We do not.

I would definitely recommend seeing an RE. Even if you do need a referral, you have been trying for 1 year so you should have no problem getting that. Best of luck!
