Need a second opinion....
I've had 4 losses, the last one being an ectopic that required surgery to remove part of my tube. I've been seing Dr. K at LIIVF but he differs greatly with my OB on my treatment and I am left wondering who to believe. I was thinking of getting another opinion. Is there one specific RE that has an expertise in recurrent pregnancy loss?
TIA.

I'm so sorry for your losses. Were you under the care of an RE or an OB when they occurred? Do you know if they checked your progesterone or anything? I agree w/ PP- I have heard nothing but good things about Dr. Braverman and from what I've heard he specializes in recurrent losses.

Thank you for all the replies!
I was under a regular OB when my losses occurred. I have had all kinds of genetic testing done by Dr.K but he said everything is normal, that I have just had 'bad luck'. I switched to a new OB after this last loss and she said I tested positive for the MTHFR Mutation and anticardiolipin antibody. She has me on folic acid and baby aspirin and thinks I shouldn't have another problem should I get pregnant again. Dr. K said he doesn't think the MTHFR caused my losses because my homocysteine levels are normal (3.6) and he also claims that he tested me for the ACA in May and I tested negative. He said he sent that bloodwork to Tenessee and he trusts that lab over the labs on L.I. He wants me to start IVF right away while my OB doesn't think IVF is necessary. I am 41. Think I will contact Dr. Braverman today!

Re: Need a second opinion....
I cant bet you anything braverman will suggest the IVF only because of your age.. But he will treat you for that MTHFR.. You probably have a combination of issues.. Age and clotting.. you have much better odds with IVF or IUI more eggs are always good.. Best of luck.. braverman did it for me at 43 so I am sure he will do it for you..

I have a very similar history to you. Immune(clotting) issues with one proven ectopic and 3 other losses maybe ectopic or miscarriages-not sure. I disagree with your Dr in that I believe this is an old way of looking at things-regarding homocysteine. I also think you should be on lovenox and a special form of FA(folgard or better yet Metanx) I have a lot of experience with your situation and have ultimately been successful. I agree with the Dr B recommendations. I did see him at one point but ended up being treated by someone who does a similar treatment.
ETA FM me if you like

based on your MTHFR mutation even without elevated homocysteine levels- I'd definitely give Braverman a shot- I have the same thing and see Braverman and feel COMPLETELY confident with him!
