Re: Have you ever...

i have. picked up a piece of chicken to flip it over in the sauce so the whole thing would be covered, and found a very long black curly hair floating in the sauce. I have blonde hair.Chat Icon I actually couldn't eat after that, so i just took the credit

I somehow find hair in my food more times then you would ever think. DH says i look for it, but its more an issue of me being a picky eater and always picking at my food. Chat Icon

Re: Have you ever...

I generally will tell a server everything is good, even if I don't really like the food. However, I have sent things back on occasion:

- ex: the time the blueberries in my blueberry martini were green and furry. Chat Icon (the server told me she could bring me new blueberries, but I asked for an entirely new drink Chat Icon)

- however, I was once at Macaroni Grill and ordered a peach bellini and it was pretty gross. The server came by and asked me how it was, and I said it was good. Instead of moving on, he said "you really like it?" and explained he had tried it a week earlier and thought it was gross. I agreed that he was gross, and he brought me a martini instead Chat Icon

Yesterday, however, takes the cake as my worst restaurant experience ever. Chat Icon

No I don't think I've ever had to, but I would if there were something wrong with the food.

I send my food back if its too cold.

Recently DH and I went to a local restaurant where we are regulars and we both ordered the same meal and an appetizer. Everything was cold but we only sent back our entrees. It took over 15 minutes to heat it up and it was still cold. I was so ******. The manager came over to see how we were doing and I told him what happened. Our entire meal was on the house and he went back to the kitchen to have them prepare a brand new hot meal for us.

I don't understand the fear people have in sending food back. I worked in restaurants for yeearrss and I can tell you first hand that there is NO NEED to worry about someone doing something to your food. You'd be surprised at the quality controls in the kitchen...there is just no opportunity whatsoever, at least in all the places I worked.

I have this fear:

It's a true story. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: I worked in a restaurant for 10 years as well. Nothing like this happened, but some minor things I don't want to know about.

Re: Have you ever...

I'm usually such a wimp and will eat it unless it's something I couldn't even eat... for instance this weekend I went out to brunch w/ my girl friend and ordered an eggwhite omlette with tomato and swiss cheese and they came back with bacon and tomato. I hate bacon so of course I sent it back. Now.. if it was american cheese instead of swiss then I would just eat it.

I'll send it back if it's wrong - undercooked meat is the most common reason but not the only one.

I did once. I hate to send back food and guess I'm very fortunate that I've never really had to.

The only time I did was when a steak that I asked for medium well came out totally rare. Even if it was medium rare I could have handled it. But it was just way too undercooked for me.

Re: Have you ever...

I send food back if I'm not happy. It's cold, too rare, tastes funny..etc.

It's my money, I want it they way I want it.

I don't do it often but I have no problem sending it back.

Yes, a lot of times. I have a dairy allergy and stress no cheese when I order food but often times my meals comes with cheese on it. Other times the dishes have cheese on them but it's not shown in the description of the meal so I do have to send back food when that happens

Re: Have you ever...

I had to send back something at Houlihans once... there was a huge piece of a broken plate in the middle of my mashed potatoes, and i crunched down on it--HARD--with my teeth, I was so lucky I didn't crack a tooth.

And can you believe it, they didn't even take the money off of the bill?!?
