High Risk OB-update on me

Dr. Davis is referring me to one so I can try to keep my Crohns in check while I stim and if I get pregnant. I will have my gastro work in concert with this doc if anything arises. Davis knows lots of stuff but referring me to a specialist who I may have to continue to see if I get lucky is a good idea.

After flaring while stimming last time I was a mess. I'm just going to see what the doc says.

I didn't want to do this yet but it's better if I remain in remission (currently having very few symptoms for one of the few times in my life) and I want to keep it that way. I just have to get an understanding of which drugs I can be on going into a pregnancy and the risks associated with them.

Health first..

Re: High Risk OB-update on me

I know it may sound premature to do this but until I talk to someone who knows which meds are safe and can give me the right info I can't get into a remmission. The worst is flaring while pregnant. The chance of miscarriage is high if that happens and these meds take months ramp up on and start having therapeutic effects.

I think you are smart. I have a friend that "accidentally" Chat Icon got pg and has Crohn's. There were quite a few medss she had to stop, but others she stayed on b/c any risk was outweighed by the benefit of keeping her in remission.
Good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: High Risk OB-update on me

My cousin who went through IVF and has a son knows I have this disease and I've missed quite a few events because of it..namely both of her weddings, doesn't get it.

Her comment was, "aren't you putting the cart before the horse?"

Either way, I should be on meds that keep me healthy..why not ones that I can take while pregnant because that is what I'm counting on.

Davis even mentioned that my flare up could have impacted my cycle.

Your health should be a priority. Anything else is a bonus after that. It's good that you are getting to see the Dr. soon. I'm sure you will feel happier continuing with the IF treatments after that.
