I need help ..
without going into the long blown out story.....what do u do for a friend who may go to jail for something they did not do? i feel so bad for my freind who just had a baby and was out of state and was a the wrong place at the wrong time. RI laws are different from here and she may be screwed... shes sobbing every night and having panic attacks. what in the world can i do for her? please help TIA

i don't think there is anything you can do but just be there as a supporter

I don't think there's much you can "do" in this situation except listen, support her, and be a friend. Can you go visit her in RI?

she lives on long island but was in RI when she got arrested. shes going back and forth now for the court dates.

Other than be there to listen, nothing. If you are talking extended jail time, I would think nothing of suggesting she get a second lawyer's opinion.

A very good friend of mine was in that situation 2 years ago. The only thing we could do was be supportive of her and we all wrote character reference letters on her behalf. Anyway being as she had no prior record she was release and had to stay out of trouble for a year and the incident came off of her record, but if she got in trouble during that year she would be charged with the new crime and the old one as well. Needless to say, she now has a clean record, but every day before sentencing which took a few months and every day of that year she was heartbroken and felt so betrayed by the system. It's really scarry to think what being in the wrong place at the wrong time can do to a person.

Oh boy, I hope things work out for the best but if it was my friend, I would be calling lawyers to find out what she can do and like others said def be her shoulder to cry on and her ear to listen to. Best of luck
