Pretend you're packing...
for a 3 week trip to Europe in June.
You can only bring ONE suitcase.
What would be in there?
I'd love to see pictures of dresses, tops, pants, shoes, handbags, accessories, etc. You'll be visiting 5 countries and will have to lug this luggage around, so pack light! (Oh, and you don't want to completely stick out!)
Humor me please!

i am not good with the fashion advice, since i really only shop at NY and Company, but i love their spring stuff!
as far as dresses go, i would definitely go to Target - they have some VERY cute stuff in right now.

Re: Pretend you're packing...
I went for 2 weeks with one suitcase a few years ago. I packed alot of tanks, skirts, a few sundresses, 1 or 2 pairs of jeans, a few dressy tops, a light jacket, an umbrella, walking shoes and flip flops. As far as accessories, I brought a pashmina, sunglasses, a small evening bag, a hat and basic jewelry-- hoop earrings, bangle bracelets, etc.
And def bring a small bottle of Woolite in case you have to wash something and wear it again.

Re: Pretend you're packing...
I am the queen of 3 weeks of clothes in a carry on!
Q is on the right track.
remember, you CAN do laundry
I think you wanted to see photos, so I won't give you a list. I am actually working on this right now....I need to pack for the Amalfi coast in May!
but I spent 3 weeks in Germany 2 years ago, 3 weeks in France, 3 weeks in Japan, 2 weeks in Italy, Spain...and frequent "weekend" trips to Italy as well.
I would bring 3 dresses, 1 or 2 jeans, a few nice blouses/ts (try not to bring tanks/sleeveless dresses without having a cover up...churchs don't allow you to visit without them), one or 2 skirts, bras and panties. cool sneakers, flat shoes, and a pair of dressy sandals.
I am also known to pick up a few things while I am there that I add to the wardrobe. most importantly, bring things that you LIKE, b/c you will be wearing it more than once on your trip.

Re: Pretend you're packing...
I was in Europe for 3 weeks back in September, however, I have some kind of disorder that prevents me from packing light. I really do try, but it just never works out.
That said, my suggestion is to bring a some 'interchangeable' pieces. Skirts, shorts and pants in some neutral colors that you can keep mixing and matching during the trip. (Black, khaki, gray, etc Then you can pair them up with a variety of tops. Definitely dresses..they're so comfortable and versatile. Just by adding some different accessories you can totally change the look.
I also had a hard time finding sneakers before I left but I landed a nice, comfy pair of Pumas and was so glad I had them on the trip. And of course, don't forget - there's plenty of incredible shopping in Europe so you can always pick up stuff there!

Re: Pretend you're packing...
I used to go to Europe every year- but stopped about 8 years ago.
I would wear a lot of dresses in Europe. Pack 2 pairs of jeans. 1 Capri pants. 3 skirts. 1 pair long pants. and a bunch of short sleeve/sleevless shirts and two sweaters/cardigans for layering.
For shoes- I pack one walking sandal, one going out sandal, one pair of flats, one pair of sneakers.
Just some tips- Europeans don't really where shorts- so I'd skip those (especially cut offs).

Re: Pretend you're packing...
We went to Rome/Israel for 2.5 weeks in September.
In my bag, I packed a bunch of summer dresses, skirts and tees/tanks that were interchangeable. One pair of white linen pants and a sweater for cold nights. I packed a few pairs of flip flops - basic black and then one pair of dressier sandals, and a pair of walking shoes.
If you don't want to stick out - NO shorts and NO sneakers!
A sun hat, sunglasses and one bathing suit. I brought just one purse.

Re: Pretend you're packing...
If you want to pack light, then the best bet is to go with pieces that you can mix and match (so you can wear them more than once on the trip and still have a different "look"). You should be able to do laundry through your hotels or near wherever you are staying.
I also have the disorder that makes it impossible to pack light, BUT I did do it once :)
I would probably take: 3-5 dresses 4 shorts 2 capris 2 skirts 1 pair of jeans
4 tank tops 1-2 light cardigans (to wear over tanks, dresses, shirts, anything!) 5-6 t-shirts
Also, do not forget accessories!!! They can totally change the look of your outfit if you have to wear the same one again!
1 pair of sneakers 1 walking shoe 1 pretty sandal you can wear "dressier" 1 sandal you can wear dressed down
I'd say that would fit well in one bag!
And I must add - if you want to overpack, you can always just take me with you to help you carry it!

Re: Pretend you're packing...
How thrifty are we talking? Here are some picture ideas from Old Navy that I'd pack for a trip if I was trying to be very thrifty - then mix in with "nicer" pieces I already have or purchase from other stores.
Everything below is between $10-20 each (some are on sale right now):
Cropped cardigan Available in 4+ colors
Cute puff sleeve t-shirts
Open front cardigan, sale for $15 Available in light colors too! I have it in white and I like the weight of it and how it fits.
Yoga pants for casual walking etc., sale for
Button henley
Crochet trim top, cute with a skirt!
Cutesy tube top, 4+ color options
Crochet trim tank, a few color options
Printed empire top
Ruffle trim shirt - this one is $25
Slim stretch capris
Perfect khaki capris
Foldover jersey skirt
Dresses - all $24-40

Re: Pretend you're packing...
if you are looking for a more european style (so as to not stick out too much like a tourist) try shopping at Zara, Mango, and other european brands for inspiration.
I am looking at the following for my trip to the Amalfi...bring on the SUN!!
white shirt dress is your best friend when packing light
these sandals seem cute and comfy for walking during the day
any kind of jewel/stone adorned thong will also look stylish
I wouldn't pack much more than this, a few shirts/blouses, a pair of good fitting jeans, a swimsuit/coverup and one or two sweaters of differing weights.

Re: Pretend you're packing...
I have no pictures, but I've done one week with one suitcase, and I brought:
-1 pair sneakers (small & stylish, like pumas or skechers) -1 pair comfy walking sandals -1 pair jeans -2 dresses -1 skirt -1 sweater hoodie in a neutral color that matches with everything for layering -several tanks/tshirts/blouses that were light and rolled up easily without wrinkling too badly -1 tiny umbrella
For 3 weeks, I'd bring maybe a second pair of jeans, an extra dress, and a pair of khakis/capris/some other comfy pants, and plan to do laundry once somewhere. It pains me to pack light - I like to be prepared for anything! - but it can totally be done.

Re: Pretend you're packing...
I have something very similar to these Sketchers and I have worn them on vacation during excursions and stuff.
I saw these by DKNY too:
As for sneakers, I tend to like the more "fashion" type of sneaker than the sporty kind, although the sporty kind may be more comfy to walk in?
I saw these on famous footwear.com
I actually have these next ones in a different color and they are comfy! They're kids - the kids light flight - but I wear a women's size 8 so I bought the kids size 6 and they fit perfect!
I also have these, the speed cat, in a few colors.
This belt would look cute over a loose shirt, a dress, or even a cardigan
On sale for $25!
This necklace could really change up an outfit for you - it's a bit funky but I like it! On sale 30% off at Ann Taylor
This one is slightly different
I love this one - looks great on
