How to start running?
Hi Ladies! I'm pretty new to the Diet and Fitness board, and would really like to get in shape. I've got about 25-30 pounds to lose, and I would like to start running. I'm not really considered overweight (BMI is 23.5 according to Wii Fit), but I'm EXTREMELY out of shape.
I know I won't go if I join a gym, I get bored and unmotivated very quickly. I have very little stamina and I get extremely tired after exercising, which is part of the reason I hate it so much. I'm not sure how to start something like this, so any advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA

Re: How to start running?
I would start by downloading some motivational music and then check out Couch to 5K (c25k is the abbreviation). It is an 8 or 9 week program that gets you off the couch and running 30 minutes in 9 weeks. For some people, including myself, it takes a bit longer because you can repeat weeks as you go. Week 6 is one that I know I did 3 times.
Good luck. Great time of the year to start.

Re: How to start running?
If you're not used to working out, start by walking for the first several weeks then increase your time and speed. Start adding in some jogging then running a few minutes into each walk, until you are mostly running. Increase the difficulty little by little so you don't get injured & stretch. enjoy!
