Getting to Mystic Ct?

How does everyone go? We want to make it easiest on our toddler...

We have 3 options

-Drive to Oreint Point, Take Ferry
-Port Jeff Ferry
-Or drive through.

Each has pros and cons. Driving to orient is about an hr and 45 mins and then a short ferry ride.

Then theres PJ and its an hr ferry ride but addtional hr drive to mystic.

Or the 2and 1/2 -3 hour drive striaght through.

Plus the added cost of the Ferry rides( with taking our car)

TIA!

Whenever I go to that area, I have family there, I take the ferry across. If you are just staying for the day, they might have shuttles back and forth like they do for the casinos. If they do, you can just walk on.

I think taking the Orient ferry is probably the easiest way to travel there with a toddler.

We take the orient point ferry. The drive along the north shore is always pretty and then we can do more stuff around Mystic once we get up there instead of being stuck in the car.

We drove through. We live in Western Suffolk on the South Shore, and it would have taken us just as long to go all the way out to Orient Point, take the ferry and drive. I also get severe motion sickness, so we would have to sit outside on the ferries, which would be very cold in February!

We stopped once on the way there. It took us about 3-3 1/2 hours. It wasn't a bad drive, but it was just the two of us. There looked like there were plenty of rest stops along the way.

We went for three days, two nights.

Re: Getting to Mystic Ct?

I just came back from there today. Both ways I took the Port Jeff --Bridgeport ferry. The ferry ride is approx. 1 hour 15 min. and then the drive from Bridgeport is about an hour and 10 minutes--really easy drive too. I like this way the best with kids b/c I think all in all it is the least amount of time spent in the car where they are cooped up. On the ferry they can at least walk around, etc. I think it cost $51 each way for driver & car and another passenger is I think $12. Kids are free.

Re: Getting to Mystic Ct?

We drove with DS when he was about 14 months old and he was fine in the car. We stopped once to change his diaper and we were almost there (15 min away) and he was getting antsy so I got in the backseat and played with him.

We take the Orient Point Ferry. It is a really nice ride through the North Shore. Then when you get off teh ferry you are so close. I think it is like 15 min to mystic.
