People that went to Niagara Falls...
i'm planning a trip there in june. is it better stay in in niagara falls or downtown niagara falls. we'll be there for a week

I stay with family when I visit, but I would recommend staying at one of the hotels near the falls. This way you in the center of it all. If you stay on the US side, you might get better rates. IDK.
But you can walk across the bridges and get some great views!
Some recommendations:
1. Visit the Fallls on both sides
2. Try the Maid of the Mist- be prepared to get WET!
3. Walk the cave of the winds on the side of the US Falls - I had a lot of fun on this!
4. Down the gorge, there is a butterfly museum on the Canadian side - it is so much fun to walk through and if you have your nails painted, the butterflys come and land on you!
5. Marine Land - can't beat it in the summer. It's much different than the aqauriums down here, as it's part aquarium, part whale show, part amusement park, part zoo cause you can feed the animals!

The Canada side has more to do- more hotels, restaurants, casino, sightseeing.
And you get a better view IMO of both the Horseshoe and American falls.

we're going from 6/5-6/12. while we're there we'll be going toronto. we're just trying to figure out the best place to stay

Look into St. Catherine's. It's a beautiful area! My friend went to college there and also got married there. It's a quaint litte town, very nice to walk through and in the spring/summer, they have flowers in bloom everywhere!!

We went last year and stayed at Sheraton on the Falls on the Canada side. I don't know if that's downtown Niagara or not, but we were very close to everything.

I don't remember it being too expensive. I know that I booked it through Orbitz, then upgraded our room to a Falls View when we got there. The room had a small sitting area and fire place. I'm pretty sure it was under $200 a night.
ETA - I remembered that I booked it through Priceline, not orbitz. I just looked up my account and paid $99 a night. Then upgraded when we got there - I think for an additional $50 per night.

I got engaged there! LOOOOOOVED IT!!! I just saw the Sheraton Fallsview advertise a special for around $80. I'm not sure if it covers ur dates though.
We stayed in a fallsview suite at the Marriot and it was amazing!!!
IMO- the canada side is where its at!
