Haven't posted about this-longish
Here I am in the 2ww..
I have crohns disease and during the cycle I was having issues...in the butt area. Never did before. But now I have them.
Went to the doc..I have an abcess..ok, great. Call Davis get the ok for antibiotics. I took them for 7 days right up until IUI.
The issue is not all gone and flaring up bad. The doc won't prescribe because I "may" be pregnant. Nobody will touch this one with a 10 foot pole.
I called my surgeon that did my resection on my small intestime two years ago for advice. He specializes in crohns but not in the tush..mostly intestinal. He refered me to a doc that he worked with for 14 years who as he puts it is the only guy he would let near his azzhole. (that says a lot)
I called him and he took me in right away. Same day. One of these docs that doesn't take insurance and you have to wait 3 weeks to see. Meant to be..
I go and he spends an hour talking about the what ifs..examines me as far as he could without scoping me.
He prescribes a suppository and an antibiotic but because there are no studies about how this may effect an early pregnancy nothing is guaranteed. He calls Davis to ask about the meds. Davis calls him back asap (always impressed about that professional courtesy, thinking I should change my name to add M.D.)
Davis decides on another antibiotic (one of the two that I took before but he likes this one better)
I've been so uncomfortable for the last 4-5 days or so and it wasn't getting better.
After Wed (beta) I will take it from there. If I'm not pregnant I will treat this more aggressively, if I am we will talk further.
This is not life or death, but since I have Crohns it won't just get better by itself most likely.
I hope that the antibiotic will do the trick..it did before. Not thrilled about the supps since I'm already on the progesterone.
I know it's temporary but I have to laugh or I will cry. Between doctors up my wooha and doctors up my poop...and two kinds of suppositories...jeez!!!
Now I will fire the other surgeon who wouldn't do a damn thing for me. I will get through this. Maybe, just maybe I will have to worry about what to do on Wed.
thanks for listening. You guys rock.

I know some people with Crohn's and know how horribly painful it is....even without TTC.

Re: Haven't posted about this-longish
great, when I picked up the meds the pharmacy pamphlet says don't take in the first 3 months of pregnancy.
I don't even know if I am or not right now..this is so frustrating. If I'm not, great..if I am I feel stuck.

I'm so sorry you are going through this.
I think as long as Davis gave the OK you should go ahead and take the medicine.

Re: Haven't posted about this-longish
I'm going to call him today and tell him what the pamphlet says.
I know that info comes from the pharma house and it's a CYA situation.

I spoke to Davis..he's great. He made me feel better about taking the meds and it should be fine.
We had a nice chat.

Oh Susan. I'm sorry that you are going through this. I don't have the same thing, I have IBS but I was suffering from roids (sorry TMI) and I was also at one point stimming and seeing a colon rectal surgeon. I now don't care who looks at me....LOL... Nothing phases me. Not fun. I hope your meds work.

thanks..I've taken two doses and I feel much better already!
Did you know that progesterone is also contraindicated for pregnancy and we all have to go on that after IVF!!
So these pharma houses are covering their butts. Not that anyone wants to take meds while pregnant, only the ones you really need.
