Southwest starting operations in LGA
It's been in the news for awhile, but it looks like Southwest will start operations out of LGA sometime in June. It's likely they'll have mostly Florida destinations to start.
I'm hoping for a BWI-LGA route- would make life a hell of a lot easier to see my family!

Please tell me that they will still be operating out of McArthur. My FIL comes up from Florida at least once a month and uses Southwest and McArthur is much easier to get to.

Yeah- McArthur is a lucrative space for them- they'll stay there forever.
They'll be using the slots/space AirTran formally used out of LGA. If I remember correctly, their flight times were during off peak times.
I know that SWA had the same concerns when flying out of Philly (delays) and by tweaking the flight times, as well as padding times between departures, there were no issues. I'm assuming they'll do the same out of LGA- LOTS of tweaking and padding.

Because of Delta, it's unlikely SWA will fly into ATL for LONG time. I will say though- Savannah has been mentioned a number of times. Then again, it was thought they'd never go to JFK or LGA.

That's great I heard this from someone else! I haven't flown with them b.c I'm nervous about flying with DD (and another on the way) with the no seats deal. But they are a cheaper option and I don't think they charge to check 2 bags so I will be checking them out in the future!

Actually, the no assigned seats thing is a BENEFIT to parents traveling with liittle ones. Once you're situated in the row you've chosen, just plunk your child in the seat next to you. If there are unsold seats on the flight, you've just gotten 2 seats together for you and DC.
Also- SWA does NOT charge extra for bags under 50 pounds, nor do they charge for pillows/blankets/non-alchoholic beverages.
*can you tell I'm a former employee (dh still works there)*

I have a feeling SW won't last a LGA for that reason.
