Hoover Dam Tours

We're going to Vegas in March and plan do rent a car and go to the Hoover Dam. I'm looking at the different tour options: Powerplant Tour, Hoover Dam Tour, etc. - anyone do these and which would you recommend. Its a significant prices different $11 compared to $30. TIA!

When I went to Vegas years ago with friends we wanted to do a Hoover Dam tour too. WE pretty much walked around the strip and there are so many tour places you can walk into or people walk up to you and ask. The tour included a tour of Vitamin World (don't ask... it was cheesy, but part of the tour) and some chocolate factory too. We had a great time. A bus picked us up right in front of the hotel too. You can also ask concierge at the hotel

We actually did a helicopter tour of the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. We flew into the Canyon and had a picnic. It was so nice

If you are going to rent a car, you can just do the Park Service tour, you don't need to use a company. If you decide not to rent the car, there are a lot of tours you can take. We did a tour to the Grand Canyon that stopped at Hoover Dam through www.adventurephototours.com. I highly recommend them and they do just the Hoover Dam as well.

I went to Vegas about 5 years ago and we rented a car and drove to the Hoover Dam.

From what I can remember, we didn't take a tour...We just "toured" it ourselves. Not sure if you can still do that, but I don't even remember paying anything.
