Has anyone had or know someone who has had a Lumbar Discectomy?
I think/Know I will be having this proccedure. I am freaking out right now!! I need some details about personal experiences with the surgery. What is the recovery time? Thank you in advance!!

My DH is supposed to be having this done soon. (or at least I think it is the same surgery -- he has 2 bulging disks and they are going to cut off the bulging portion). He was told that the recovery time would be about 4 weeks if only 1 needs to be cut, while it will be about 8 weeks if 2 need to be cut. We're waiting on the MRI to tell us what exactly needs to be done.
If only 1 needs to be done, the doctor said to can be done as an outpatient, and he can go home the same day. If 2, then it will be a 1 night hospital stay.
