please recommend a kennel you trust in Suffolk!
Does anyone have a kennel that they have left their pet at and felt like their pet was well taken care of? It makes me a little nervous to leave our dog in a kennel because I remember a bad experience my family dog had at one when I was growing up. Also, what is a typical price per night for a large dog? Thanks!

I haven't used them. But if you do a search on here for Cozy Noses in Bohemia you will see they come highly recommended.

Definitely Cozy Noses in Bohemia.
We left Cooper there for a week when we went on our honeymoon and they were FANTASTIC!!
You have the option to put them in an indoor/outdoor run (that has a roof/awning for the outside so they're not in direct sunlight or rain or anything like that). At night, the door to the outside is closed so they are safe and warm inside and during the day the door is open so they can go in and out as they please (we were told that every day Cooper would drag his bed outside to the patch of sun in his kennel and lay there for hours). They are never put in a run with another dog... EVER!
Cooper is on a special diet and needs medication every day and they were very attentive to that. When we called they gave detailed updates about how he was doing.
You also have the option to schedule play time, camp time, bath time.... Cooper got 2 30 minute play times and 1 bath. When we got home he was EXHAUSTED from all of the running around... he literally didn't move for about 2 days.
Here's the LINK to their website. Let me know if you have any specific questions about our experience. We definitely plan on leaving him there again when we go away in Sept.

Re: please recommend a kennel you trust in Suffolk!
I would recommend Houndstown. It depends on what kind of dog (personality-wise) you have. Teemu is very physical - he likes to play, be snuggled, have physical contact all day long. For him, I chose Houndstown because they have a doggie day care during the day where he can play with the dogs and the people who work there all day. They also have longer hours than most other boarding places I have seen, and I wanted Teemu to have people around as much as possible.
That being said, they do require a temperment test, since teh dogs will be playing with each other, dogs with aggression issues would not be allowed. Also if your dog is just not interested in playing with other dogs or is scared of other dogs (my friend's dog, despite being quite large, is petrified to be with other dogs and prefers the protection of a dog run), then this wouldn't be the place for you.
Good luck!

My parents always used Cozy Noses when I was a kid!
But they aren't open Sundays so it has always been inconvenient for us.
We use our vet/Holbrook Animal Hospital

Jack goes to HoundsTown in Ronkma for day care. I would recommend them also for o/n stays as they take such good care of him in daycare. jack also has a private sitter when needed, she too is awesome. FM if you want her info

I use a person who does it in her home but I have heard great things about Cozy Noses. With Char, however, she really needs a private home with more one-on-one care. She gets separation anxiety when we leave her for long periods... poor thing!
HTH!
