Anyone been to these DR resorts?
looking for real life reviews.
Not planning to leave Resort so looking mostly for Good restuarants with a good variety and nice Pools and Beaches.

i've been to Iberostar Bavaro--which is on the same property at Iberostar Punta Cana and Iberostar Dominica.
If you are looking at IB resorts---go with Bavaro on that property instead of Punta Cana--the Bavaros are all jr. suites and the grounds are nicer than Punta Cana. The entire property is like one giant resort. There are plenty of restaurants, great pool, and nice beach at the IB Bavaro. We also didn't leave the resort during our week stay out there...there was no need!
WE LOVED IB Bavaro--it was amazing. We went last May. Also--check out tripadvisor.com -- their Traveler's Choice hotels for 2009 just came out--and Iberostar was voted I think #4 in the world of hotel chains. Traveler's choice awards
The IB Bavaro was the winner last year for Best Bargain in the Caribbean and in the top ten for 2008 best bargains for the world.

the price difference is LARGE though. Too large for me.

The Majestic Elegance is brand new.
It looks GORGEOUS and you can get a great deal through beachdestinations.com right now (depending on when you're traveling).
I wanted to go there- we could've gotten the top room category for the same $$ we're spending to go to a mediocre place in cabo.
Oh well...next vacation.

 well if you get into the Punta Cana you can use all the facilities at the Bavaro--their pools & restaurants (buffet especially) are better than Punta Cana IMO. Its just a further walk across the resort.

we have stayed at Iberostar Dominicana, we had a great time although that was few years ago... as far as I remember the beach and pools were nice, good food and the staff was wonderful...

I also stayed at the Iberostar Bavaro. Loved it although it was many years ago - pre-kids (pre marriage too). We did use the facilities of the other attached Iberostars. The 2 attached resorts Punta Cana and Dominica(?) seemed very nice just more crowded and kids. I know when we went you couldn't use the restaurants at bavaro if you stayed at the others but if you stayed at Bavaro you could use all three. Also, Bavaro at that time was an adutl only resort. I love the iberostar chain...can't go wrong.
