I didn't realize how overwhelming this would be
Emotionally I'm on a different plane.
DH is too..he's already thinking this isn't worth it. We had to get some needles at Walgreen's last night because for some reason the pharmacy didn't send me the right needles to administer the menopur. We spent 90 minutes at Walgreens between the doc calling back and the pharmacist making a mistake and waiting again for the doc to call back.
My day started at 6:00am and ended at 12:30am. I did the shots later than I was supposed to because of it.
Yesterday was a big day and I didn't realize how stressed out I was to begin with and then to have this happen last night put me over the edge.
I was ready to choke Walgreens.
Oh yeah, thanks Caremark. You messed up too.
and this is just the beginning...wait until I'm all pumped up on mega doses of hormones.
on a good note: Dr. Williams was the on call doc and he was the BEST!!! We laughed a little on the phone especially since the pharmacist (should be fired) was clueless.
After I did the shots I threw my hands up in the air and proclaimed. " I did it."
DH didn't seem to care. Kind of a kick in the pants, ya know?
eta: DH was impressed that an on call doc from Cornell called me back so quick. me too.

I found my first IVF cycle to be VERY overwhelming compared to the second. Hang in there.

and my cousin tells me I need to get my sh*t together. yep, she's a veteran at this..I'm sure she had it all together the first time.
She did have her boss to lean on since she did it first.
I'm not superwoman...but I play her on TV.

hang in there, chickie. I was overwhelmed at first, also, but you'll get there. You will be okay- I promise. It does get easier each day.
And congrats on giving yourself the shots! It is a big relief!

Re: I didn't realize how overwhelming this would be
Congrats on doing the shots! It is definitely overwhelming at first but after a few days you'll feel like a pro. It is awful that they gave you the wrong needles, but I find that challenges like this creep up all the time while cycling. I can't believe just how on top of things you really need to be in order to do this.

when sticking oneself with a 5/8 inch 25 gauge needle, it helps to have a shot of tequila.
more needles, more shots..
repeat as necessary.

Re: I didn't realize how overwhelming this would be
Had I known, I would have been happy to share the 1,222,333,555,987 needles and syringes I have left over from my last 4 stim cycles. Oh wait...and even though I asked for NO MORE EFFING NEEDLES AND SYRINGES for THIS cycle, I got $40 worth of them anyway
Congrats on giving yourself the shot And as far as your DH goes here's MY DH: I give you credit, I cant even watch you do that

Hang in there!
I felt like the first shot was the most difficult just because you are so nervous, but after that it becomes so routine!

Re: I didn't realize how overwhelming this would be
I felt like a donkey on the edge!
DH did crack a smile..he thought it was funny that I was doing a shot. Then I had a beer..1/2 a beer..I really don't like beer. He said, hey, last time you had a beer was 2 years ago...
Desperate times my love...desperate times.
Oh and he can't watch me either..wait..the IM injections will be fun. I'll be asking you guys to do it.

Re: I didn't realize how overwhelming this would be
OMG - and here I am with tons of extra needles at home. Well, the thing to remember is that no matter how things seemed to be screwed up you can make it work. Thats do to your quick thinking and Cornell.
Congrats on your first shots! It is much easier from here on in. You are an expert already, you'll see.
My DH would never show any reaction to this. Even just now I'm telling him your ordeal and he's like "so". MEN!!!
When do you go back in about 3 days for monitorning?

I go back tomorrow for blood work.
We'll see after this. I'm scared I will run out of meds.
