Back from my 40 week appt

So, I am 2cm dilated officially, but still no effacement. She didn't really have any reaction when I told her I lost my mucus plug. Again, I am feeling crampy today-- but, the progress speaks for itself.

I scheduled a non-stress test for Friday, when I will be 40weeks; 1day, then I go back to my doc on Tuesday.

I saw a different doc today as mine is out this week so I couldn't really talk definitive next steps which is totally annoying. If I don't go into labor on my own-- they will probably let me go at least 7 to 10 days past my due date.

The doc did say hopefully I won't have to do the stress test as I will go into labor before then-- I don't know if that meant she thought I would, or she just had a sunny disposition and positive outlook.

I on the other hand, feel like the L&D Grinch right now. DH better be nice to me tonight.

Does the 2cm dilation hurt?

I can't imagine you going a week after your due date if you are already 2cm dilated!

Won't they induce you?!?!?!

I'm sorry they couldn't tell you much of anything, but just keep hanging in there (I know, easier said than done).

I know you don't want to hear this, but it is possible to walk around for quite a while having lost your plug, but 2 cm is progress so that's promising. Keep moving around......and have sex. Whether you want it or not....just do it...it will help with effacement!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Mother**cker... Back from my 40 week appt

yeah, I don't understand why they don't tell you anything. And even with this other doc, again-- she is like rushing out the door and I am trying to ask her all these questions.

I am in the WORST mood now. I was hoping an entire black & white cookie would console me, but no. I am just sitting here p!ssed.

On the bright side, my internal didn't hurt really-- so not like last week. I guess the female doc has a gentler touch.

Dilation doesn't hurt...

Re: Mother**cker... Back from my 40 week appt

With DS#2 I was 3 cm and not effaced on a Tuesday. By Friday 40 weeks, 1 day I was in the hospital delivering:) Things can move along fast all of a sudden. My doctor was discussing an induction for the following week. I was suppossed to go back that following Monday - happy to say we didn't make it that far.

You'll probably start to contract in a couple of days and as long as you are 4cm they will keep you.

I was 4cm when I went to the hospital and they gave me pitocin.

Good luck.

thanks-- this gives me hope.

The thing that is driving me nuts, is that I feel like I need to stay close to home and I just feel stuck. Anything I would want to do is like 20 mins away at least-- and what if I start contracting and I can't drive myself home? I don't want to be a slave to the waiting, but I also don't want to do anything stupid. And no one lives close by to come hang out with me. Grrrr...
