Is This Stupid? I'm Upset......
So - we found out we're having a girl yesterday. We told most people we wanted to know...but not our parents. I was torn on what to do (tell them or not)....and Dave knew that.
I told my mom this morning (no big deal)...for Dave's parents, i DESPERATELY wanted to tell them in person...they have two grandsons...and ours will be their first granddaughter. They called him at work today to ask what happened yesterday and he told them.
I'm DEVESTATED. Seriously - every time i think about it i cry my eyes out....even just typing this - i'm tearing up. I wanted to be able to tell at least ONE person IN person...(everyone else found out via text or email, which didn't bother me). I wanted to see his mom's face when she heard it, because i KNEW she'd be OVERJOYED....and it kills me that our chance for that is gone now.
i just needed to vent...i am so hurt... i will get over this, right???

I don't think you're being stupid--that's probably one of the most fun parts of finding out the gender ahead of time.
In my case, my DH and I did NOT know what we were having. MY MIL had 3 sons, and at that point 5 grandsons--NO girls! I would have given anything to see my IL's reaction (my DH said MIL was positively screaming!)--but being doped up in a recovery room just didn't facilitate that.  Anyway, I just want you to know that it didn't diminish the experience AT ALL. You should see my ILs with my (now) two girls. My older one is like their little doll and I'm sure it will be the same for your MIL and your DD. And that's REALLY the best part!

First off - congrats - I didn't see that you were having a girl! How exciting! I cannot believe you are 20 weeks!
I understand being upset but I also understand him wanting to tell his mom when she asked!

that's the part that hurts - he wasn't 'wanting' to tell her - they just caught him at a busy time at work and he didn't think...that's what STINKS...

You have every right to be upset! I would to. But yes you will get over it, for me it would take a while.
Someone took the fun out of letting somone know your going to have a daugther, its natural you'd be upset. Try not to let it eat you up. Think to yourself...... Ahh I'm having a baby girl!!!

awwwwwwwww sweetie it's totally not stupid. dave is a stupidhead for not waiting to tell them in person... try to make yourself happy imagining how overjoyed they will be when you get to present their first grandaughter to them! and make sure you have dibs on that moment!

I can understand why you would be upset.. There will be numerous opportunities to see the joy on everyone's faces. You can't let this feeling fester, you will drive yourself nuts and you have other things to worry about.
I am sure as the days pass and you speak to people, you will feel that excitement from them and you'll feel much better. Hey, at least you know everyone is excited!
