Tip to bring to the hospital

A friend with a 4 month old suggested getting a small stuffed animal to put in the baby's bassinet so they are easily identifiable when they are at the nursery.

I bought a cute little giraffe and threw it in my hospital bag.

With my DD, they let me make a small sign to put in her bassinet so we could tell easier as well. My sister made a sign with shamrocks since Hannah was born 2 days before St. Patty's day. I still have the sign too, it's in her baby book...a great keepsake.

off topic but another tip... bring a pillow from home the hospital pillows are soooooo uncomfortable!

yes, but bring a colored or patterned pillow. If you bring a white pillowcase, it could get mixed in with the hospital stuff

That's a good tip! I'll try to remember that one! And maybe a blanky or two also to get the smell. Kind of like how they say to take a piece of blanket or something from the breeder when you get a puppy! It makes total sense!

Everyone keeps telling me when I'm in the hospital and they bring that bassinet in the room to wipe it clean of everything... blankets, diapers, binkys, maxi pads, peri bottles... I'd better pack an extra bag for all this thievery!!!

I would be too nervous to have in bassinett.. I know baby is too small to grab. I would be afraid the nurse puts in a place where if someone was to bump the bassinett and it fell onto babys face and no one noticed.. long shot i know but this is what i picture.

Im going to bring a picture of DH, I and DD and put that in bassinett.

make sure they allow you to put it in - ours didn't want anything in there other than the baby. But our baby was easy to see (but was never in the nursery for more than a short time) they don't do nursery visiting time at my hospital. They did put a big sign on the crib that said Baby "your last name".
