Semen Analysis
My husband had an SA done and I just got the results but I don't understand. They told me that his volume was low that they like a number greater than 50,000 but his number was 17,000. I looked up information (on google) on SA and I really don't understand what this refers to. Does anyone know? It looks like the numbers are suppossed to be in the millions??
Should I call back and ask for a better explanation? They want him to see a urologist.

Unfortunately I cannot offer you information about numbers but I did go with DH to a few different urologists that deal with IF. If you want some more information - names, numbers, locations... Please let me know... You can FM me if you're interested and if I can be of further help to you!!

Thanks. I just have to imagine that they meant they like to see 50 million and he was at 17million but I was so sure she said thousand.
Well, it will have to wait anyway since the office closed at 4pm and doesn't open again till 1pm tomorrow.

Are they mailing you a copy? When my dr told me the results over the phone (with little explanation for what the #'s meant), I had a freaking meltdown. When I saw the actual test results, it was easier to understand the #'s because it shows the comparison and the % that he is off.

Definitely get a copy.
They will have your Dh's numbers as well as the references numbers and it should give you a clear picture as to whether DH's samples were in the typcial range.

Don't freak out yet! My dr gave us the results at 3pm on Christmas Eve. Then the office was closed for 2 days. The only info I got was from the internet and most of it wasn't exactly true and only got me more upset. I made an appt with an RE who sat down with me and DH and really went over everything...and it's not nearly as bad as I originally thought. Lots of people who r able to get pregnant had not-so-great SA results. Hang in there!

the first one we did showed the #'s in millions..well thats how the dr. read it. I didnt actually see the report.she had it infront ofher.
She said normal count is 50-60 million
they could have meant to say 50M..but definitely get a copy. it may make more sense.
