Follow up after the shower
My shower was this past weekend in the friggin snow.
As I stated in an earlier post we had a pretty decent turnout despite the weather which really touched me.
Anyway, I have gotten a few calls from people apologizing for not coming and actually got some gifts which is cool These are my friends.
However there are quite a few of Dh's people who have not even reached out. In particular, his boss and his officemate. They have not even mentioned the shower or expressed their regrets. Also we have not heard from 3 of his good friends.
I know when I cannot make an event, I always make some type of contact with the guest of honor. I *thought* that was the right thing to do.
What do you think?

you never know, you may receive something in the mail in a week or so. Also, keep in mind, some of these folks are on your DH's side and since they aren't on your side, they may feel uncomfortable reaching out to you

I would have to agree with this. I'm a very shy person and, though I know it'd be polite to call, probably wouldn't unless I knew the person well. But I would send my gift, so I'd keep checking the mail.

Re: Follow up after the shower
It is not really about the gift.
I am mostly referring to two people who work in very close quarters with my husband, his boss and the person who shares an office with him. Neither of them have said a word to him. I just find that a bit odd.
I did not think the people on his side should be reaching out to me, but rather to him and no one has done that.

Re: Follow up after the shower
I do find that a bit rude. I remember at our wedding, my DH's boss said he was coming with a date. Then he just never showed up. Then when he saw him at work he didn't even mention it and he didn't send a gift either. I was very peeved, especially since we paid for both their plates!

I think it's extremely rude to just not show up for a party. After all, you paid for them to attend, so the least they could have done was call to apologize.
