Paying for vacations w/ a Travel Agent

I want to plan a surprise vacation for DH's birthday. I do not want to use our debit, because he would see the money coming out of the checking account. I only have 1 credit card and the interest rate is way too high to consider using it.

So- my question is- can you make cash payments on vacation packages if you book through a Travel Agent?

Is this a bad idea?

Re: Paying for vacations w/ a Travel Agent

i asked around for you and the answer is for SOME TA"s they will let you pay by a money order. i found out from my friend who is a TA and a vendor here with Cruise One. but she said you would have to talk to them personally. If you have any other questions i am sure if you fm her she will be more then willing to help you out. even if you do not use her. Her name is Dawn.Chat Icon HTH

Re: Paying for vacations w/ a Travel Agent

I have a friend that has a small travel agency and when clients pay with cash, she just uses her company credit card to pay for packages... not a big deal, I dont see why this should be a problem...

I was at a travel agent the other day and there was couple wanted to pay cash...but the airline they booked the flight with (jetblue) only took credit cards....so they had to pay by credit card for the flight.
